    Lightbulb Im thinking, Bounty hunter!

Hey guys its me cryxkraken. I was thinking about trying to see whether or not I can make a bounty hunter build and I want your guys opinion on it. So the basis I'm going to do will revolve around ranger because I want him to duel weild and get good at that + be able to go into and out of the shadows. But then sneak in 1 level of rogue so he has a bonus to damage, can disable alright (not as well as others), and get more bonuses to sneaking. Finally add some fighter in there like 5-7 levels or so for the feats + more damage dealing and has more hp.
    race: drow
my stats im going to do are
base tome stat Items leveling feat Total:
    16 str +6 +2 +2 26 with out magic, 28 with
    14 dex +6 +1 +3 24
    14 con +6 +2 22
    14 intel +6 20
    8 wis +2 +6 16
    10 cha 10

Focused more on sneaking + bows + duel wielding
can disable some but not as good as most

    feats: Point blank shot
    skill focus disable+search+move silently+hide
    toughness(2)
and the next are variables. can be what ever, depending on how I feel when I'm leveling the character.

so in the end Ill have 12 ranger, 6 fighter, 2 rogue or
    10 ranger, 6 fighter, 4 rogue

please review for me. also any can take the idea . It also would be cool if bounty hunter became a class. But I know that won't happen :P

Review on what the idea of a bounty hunter is:
duel wielding, can use bows at times person who is wide on stats and slips in and out of shadows, doesn't have good (1d6+3) sneak attack but then again has it unlike most. Has evasion. Some one who's trained to take the prey ether dead or alive.

coming soon: inquisitor!!!!!!! ( my next attempt XD)

    Thumbs up

Take at least 11 levels of ranger, at 11 you get improved precise shot and greater two weapon fighting. If you do this you can dump dex and focus purely on the other stats, you'll want high str, con & int.
If you take monk instead of fighter then you get better saves, more dodge, wisdom to AC (while wearing robes), 6 levels of monk (dark) nets you 25% incorporeal, +1d6 sneak, 6% dodge, very fast melee, 3 feats (1 less than fighter) and with zen archery you can stay in monk stance while using a bow (for extra bow strength for example).
A ninja might fit well thematically for a bounty hunter too.

    I like the concept.
That which does not kill you gives you experience points.

    (Fighter->Fighter->Fighter->Monk->Monk->Barbarian->Paladin->Ranger)

If you want to be good at traps, but not the best, don't take skill focus in those skills. You'll be better than basically all if you do, and they aren't needed. (Heck, you only need 1 rogue level to hit all the traps in the game).

I wouldn't take 2 rogue, unless you go for 3 or 4, because you already get evasion from ranger, so 2 rogue does nothing for ya. Typically 2 rogue is a good break point for evasion, but you already have it.

I can't really provide much in the way of tips, unfortunately, since I never make drow (hate em, and not just stat wise, I think it's an uninspired race in general), but it's not too different from a human I made.

You won't use khopeshes, is probably the only difference... and less healing amp and hp :/

Assuming you do 12 ranger, decide if you want tempest. If so, you need dodge, mobility, and spring attack. You will get the twf chain for free. You need one toughness (you could take two ,but the first one is far more valuable).

So you could be looking at:
    1 (rogue): Toughness
    2: ranger
    3: Ranger Dodge
    4:Ranger
5: Ranger (Yay can cast ram's might)
    6: Ranger: Mobility
    7: Fighter: Spring attack
    8: Ranger -Take tempest
    ------------------------

Past that, your feats will vary depending on how many fighter levels you end up with and how many ranger levels.
Point blank shot could be useful. You wont get as much out of maximize/quicken or empowerheal/quicken as many rangers since you won't get CSW, only CMW, which is unfortunate.

    -----------------------

As far as the other skill focuses, hiding, move silently, etc, your mileage may vary, but most of the time they won't be useful. Consider a singular piece of equipment can give +10 to BOTH or +15 to one, easily, getting a +3 to one certainly is not worth a feat slot. And there's a good many quests where it just isn't useful anyhow: remember, you dont have assassinate. I do enjoy making class splits based on roleplay, but I think there's a balance between roleplay and effectiveness, or else one can become frustrated.

Since this is a themed / flavor build, I think barbarian suits bounty hunter better than fighter. You're a rough-n-tumble man (or woman) of the wilds - embrace it!

So, I was thinking something along the lines of this:

Eh, I dunno... my barbarians splashed UMD, but on a flavor build I find that kinda... weird... to have a UMDing barbarian, who is focused enough to read archaic scrolls, disable traps, and then run around screaming in a rage.

Mechanically, it's awkward too, I just basically never raged.

It could work, but I see a bounty hunter as trained and calculating, not a buffoon screaming his head off.

Skill focus feats are practically worthless. You won't need them to handle any essential traps in the game as long as you have basic trapping gear. The skill focuses only add a few points so they don't even qualify as suitable replacements for basic gear beyond level 5.

If you're taking rogue for the extra sneak attack, remember that it goes up on the odd levels.

Might want to go 11 ranger, odd number rogue, even number fighter(or monk).

Gets the feats for 11 ranger and maxes the sneak damage from rogue.

I made an RP character that was a Bounty Hunter type. I did 1rogue/1monk/18ranger, although any more that isn't a really great level split. But playing her did give me some things to comment on about your build.

First off, and other people have already said it, ditch those Skill Focus feats! There is no reason why you have to have anything less than absolute top shelf trap capabilities. Even without skill focus, there is absolutely no reason that you can not do all traps out there with just one level of Rogue. Fighter gives you pretty much nothing at levels 5 or 7, so that is not really a very good break point for those. And Ranger gives you quite a lot at levels 11, 12, and 14, so it would make a lot more sense to go for one of those break points. And really, two levels of Fighter, on top of 11+ levels of Ranger, will give you all of the feats that you really need.

Personally, I would also recommend not using Drow. It really is a sup-bar race, especially if you have access to 32 point builds. But if you are really certain that you want to use Drow, here is a stat lineup that I think would work better for you:
STR: 16 This is where all of your level up points really need to go to. 16 Base +5 from levels 4,8,12,16,and20 +2 Tome will give you just enough Strength to qualify for Overwhelming Critical at level 21. I made the build not require a lot of Tomes, especially early on, because I did not know what kind of resources you have for kitting your character out. But getting a +2 Tome by level 20 should be extremely easy to do.
DEX: 13 This is almost a dump stat, just sticking 3 points in it to qualify for Dodge. Since Rangers get all of the TWF and Archery feats you would want for free, you do not even have to qualify for the prerequisites for them! If you are going to be using tomes, you could leave this at a 12, and boost your INT up 2 more points so that you get some more skill points for something like Balance. Or you could place the one 'floating' stat point that I left unassigned in DEX for a slightly higher Reflex save.
CON: 14 Spending 10 build points on CON seems quite justified for this character. You won't have a whole ton of HP as it is, so you can use that extra one per level.
INT: 14 Spending just 4 build points on INT will give you enough skill points to keep Spot, Search, Disable, Open Lock, and Use Magical Device all maxed out. Well, nearly maxed out, you will have to skip some ranks on your Fighter levels, but then you can make that up on your Rogue levels. If you are the kind of player who has memorized where all of the trap boxes are in all of the levels, then you could drop INT by two points to spend elsewhere and shaft Spot. You mentioned Hide and Move silent in the original post, but those skills have almost no real use for this kind of character. It seems better to focus on skills that will actually get used, and just spend four points at level one on skills like that 'for flavor'.
WIS: 8 You can use gear to get up to the 14 WIS you will need for spell casting. You might stick the one 'floating' stat point that I left unassigned here, just to make it a little bit easier. Probably better uses for it, though.
CHA: 10 The only thing that Charisma will do for you is add to your Use Magical Device. Not worth the investment, but perhaps good to carry around potions or a swap-item for.

For feats, Toughness will be extremely important to keep you alive. Dodge, Mobility, and Spring attack will give you access to the Tempest PrE, which will be a huge boost for you. Improved Critical is a great feat to have. Power Attack is also amazing, and will give you access to Cleave and Great Cleave, which in turn will let you take Overwhelming Critical at level 21. That leaves you with one more feat to choose, assuming you did the two fighter levels. Empowered Healing or Maximize Spell would mesh well with 15 levels of Ranger, which would give you two level 4 spells for Freedom of Movement and Cure Serious Wounds. Or you could take Exotic Weapon Proficiency Khopesh to increase your damage. Or if you are finding yourself unable to get decent UMD gear, you could use it for Skill Focus UMD, and swap it out for something more useful once you get your UMD up to where you can no-fail the important things.

You will get your TWF feats as well as Bow Strength, Rapid Shot, Manyshot, and Improved Precise Shot from being a Ranger. These will give you good melee damage AND good ranged burst damage.

I made a sample build following these ideas that you can look at and tweak to your liking. I left a lot of the Enhancement points unspent, just getting the things that are kind of important to making the build work. There is plenty of room for flexibility, so you can decide how to make it work for ~you~. Like using Rapiers and investing in Drow Weapon damage or something. Also, in the build I took Favored Enemy: Undead, Elemental, and Construct because they are all often immune to critical hits and so the extra damage is really helpful there. For the last one Evil Outsiders is selected, but really you can swap any of these to whatever fits your needs without significantly impacting the build. And feats can always be swapped fairly easily later on down the road, unlike Skill Points!
