Default A couple of quick questions:

    1) If your intimidate is high enough to 'never fail' on a mob - do you fail on a one?

    2) Does AC count against a marrilths 'overrun' with her tail? Or is it based on another check?

    Cheers

    1) Skill checks don't autofail on a 1. Be warned - it's impossible to get high enough Intimidate to never fail on some raid bosses (Lailat on Epic, and Xy'zzy on Elite are impossible, I believe. Not sure about Horoth elite)

    2) Nope, it's a Strength check to not get tripped, and a Balance check to get up once you are up close and personal with the ground. Only raging level 20 barbarians with incredible Strength can stand toe-to-toe with Mariliths (maybe a Kensai in a power surge with the Scourge Choker might too)
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

I went into bastion of power, normal, with my 17th level stalwart defender.
I used intimdate and shield blocked her a bit, and then intimdated her and beat her, all while using intimidate to keep her on me and in one firewall.

I was knocked down maybe twice....completely surprised by this.
Human, straight fighter...no special rage or strength buffs.

IT was the easiest run in there I ever was in....she mostly stayed right on me, left everyone else alone, and the caster just needed one big firewall to help. The rest of the party got on the mobs...and so did I when they ran by and I could grab with an intimidate.

I do not know what was making that happen, but my strength is in the low 30s, fairly high AC....but I went toe-to-toe with absolutely no issues...on norm, marilith, bastion of power, full group.
And barely took any damage at all to boot!

When I was lower level I tried that with the demon queen raid and it worked too, but the leader was all against it and wanted her running around and such so I stopped. She did not knock me down there either...

When you intimidate her, for the most part she will face you....though sometimes she will turn around and go a few feet and then come back....just wait for her.
Now and then I lost her and had to tumble a few feet and wait for the intim reset and beat her, but then she would follow me back to the fire.

I haven't tested Hound Elite to be completely sure, but I'm pretty confident that you can get a high enough intimidate to never fail a check on any enemy currently in the game. I'm very nearly there with my TR'd Fighter @ level 18 - the high benchmark I'm aware of is epic DQ being effectively DC80. Horoth Elite was 72ish or something comparable to Hound normal, and I was able to do that pretty easily even with a starting 6 cha.

All done with Completionist (again) and Epic Completionist. First character to 30 on Sarlona* (before the rollback).
