Actually I was toying an idea... Give them their full natural SR which is powerful ability and rightfully so, but DDO waters it down quite a bit. So the enhancment line would be spell like immunity... say immunity to curses, magical diseases and poisons, and Neg Level drain...

Or something along those lines for different AP stages.. Maybe too strong? I dont think so really.

At Tier 2, this increases to 12 + 1.25 per caster level, 3 1.5, and 4 1.75. This should make Drow a formidable opponent to face vs. casters that use spells which require a SR check.
    • Give Drow the passive ability of the SR spell. The tiers itself can be used to add +2 to spell resistance. So Tier one gives an additional +2 to SR, up to a total of +8 SR on top of the normal SR value that the Drow would have.
    • Make SR a unique value for Drow for their Enhancements. Rather than giving them a number that casters have to bypass in order to land their spell, make it a percentage. Without enhancements, the chance to bypass an enemy's spell as a drow is a mere 10%. Tier 1 upgrades SR to 25%, Tier 2 33%, Tier 3 40% and Tier 4 50%. Because of the low protection that the spell version of SR gives, it will stack with drow percentage. For SR purposes, the racial % comes before the SR check.

Just thought id throw in a few ideas to make drow SR a valuable feat.
hmmm, these ideas aren't bad, and I was going to propose something akin to the second one --

I've been thinking myself though, be nice if it were a *racial* bonus, and therefore stacking with the SR spell or any SR item (although the basic value at 1st level shouldn't stack)

Apart from ensuring usefulness at high level, it would also help make those pesky SR items a bit more attractive.

I remind you of Warforged shortly after launch. They said "why do our immunities cost enhancements, when we could just get the same immunities on gear?"

You guys scratched your chins and said, "good point."

The same argument can be said for SR. It should be free. If it has to be an enhancement, it needs to be cheaper and better.

    Hip Hip!! Hurrey!! http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=206066

    • The Drow Spell Resistance line of enhancements has been removed. Drow will now inherently possess Spell Resistance equal to 10 + Character Level.
    • The Drow Ranged Attack and Damage lines of enhancements have been removed. Shuriken have been added to the Drow Melee lines, which have been renamed "Drow Racial Weapon Attack" and "Drow Racial Weapon Damage".

Not much, but at least drow will get some love in Update 8.

I'm pretty happy with the changes to SR, should make is pretty useful. in general If only it had some effect on AOE damage spells drow would actually have a degree of survivability in the end game despite the con penalty.

To be fair though, I rarely see people take 18 con, with only a few exceptions. I see surprisingly few take 16 even. Hitting 14 is easy for a drow to do, and puts them where a good chunk of the rogues, bards, fvs, and even rangers seem to start out. The extra 20 hps loss (from 16 con takers) is there, but not game breaking.

Now I will also say Drow should not as a rule run around trying to play tank or con builds (barb, ftr, etc), unless they are really out for some concept or another.

I look forward to the SR changes, and do also wish it affected aoe. Nice to see them get some love finally
