    Exclamation The Battlemage - 12Fig/8Wiz - 16 BAB - Falchion

Alright so this is my first build and i am pretty new to the game. I just had an idea for a char i wanted to play and went with it. All and Any criticism is appreciated! Thanks for your input! (I wanted a THF cleave that could heal himself and place appropriate buffs, etc.)

P.S. I have no idea how the crit tables work but this is what it came out to in my head. Thanks for reading.

The 8 wizard levels do you no good, at the cap you will not be able to hit anything, and all spells are inferior. Arcane casting is something you do either full fledged or not at all. "battlemage" is something that just not works in this game. Maybe at some point they will add the artificer maybe it makes sense then, but not with the classes avialable.

Heighten is a waste of a feat, your max. spell level is a mere 4, what do you want to heighten to what?

DOnt worry about the haters. This is a solid build that can absolutely be played end game.... By the right person.....

Your Metas are rather odd.... Heighten is a useless feat on this build. You should be concentrating on Extend (So you have a reasonable amount of Haste) and Quicken so that you can cast in themiddle of battle withotu worrying about being interupted.

Maximize also works well on these builds for amplifying your Repairs.

Oh, so fast I'm tagged as "hater"... seeeesh.

Any specfic things you target with the UMD for? Since you got WIZ levels anyway.
You don't mind the 15% arcane failure for mithral body?

I would drop intel to 13 and raise strength.
Like Impaqt said, heighten doesnt do this build much good... maximize is a much better choice to get your firewall up to a decent amount of damage, as well as put your repair critical to over 100 pts. Quicken is also a good idea, but IMO maximize is more important. (I would take max/extend as free feats and add in quicken instead of improved mental toughness)

Other then that, it looks like a strong build

    Displacement
    Blur
    Fireshield
    Rage
    Stoneskin
    Enervation
    Firewall
    Dimension Door

Seem like useful spells to me.

The only problem is deciding upon the level split. Do you go for enough Wizard levels to get Reconstruct or do you go for Kensai II?

When youmake blanket statemsnt about builds and concepts you dont understand, then yes. You get labled.

ASF is very easy to overcomw on a WF. You have Enhancments, and docents to offset it.

UMD is worthwhile for anyone. Many many u ses.

Wrong. I won't explain why, just give the advice not to say anything if you don't know what you're talking about.

Mithril body causes 0% arcane failure when you get the 3rd level of the Warforged Inscribed Armor.

For the most part the biggest question i had was am I going to have enough/too much critical for a Kensei II falchion build.

Get labeled as *hater*, maybe uninformed, but well I miss to see the "hate", calling others "haters" is much more hateful IMHO. But whatever.

Well advice ignored, many builds don't get here any feedback at all, and if the better people are to busy/snobbish to invest a little review I'll add my stuff.

Notice for example how I said first he should take heighten out, but after the next poster it was if not said, well so sometimes advice is not so bad after all. And no I don't do it because I "hate" people doing builds or whatever.

    Have you throught about a 12 wiz / 6 figh / 2 monk?

You would get evasion and especially reconstruct.

Another nice perk would be the PaleMaster PRE, since you could turn yourself into a wraith/lich form (in which you cant heal tho).

You started your respons by making a completey incorrect assumption/statement. Very easy to completely ignore the rest of the response at that point.

Feel free to correct me anytime, but don't call me hater please, thank you. We're all humans after all. When I comment on a build I do it out of good intensions and not of "hate", if I say something wrong, just gracefully correct.

    Not me - I'm a living constuct.

Op, I'd strongly recommend the 12 wiz/6 [melee of your choice]/2 monk. I'm prejudiced toward ranger, though

ASF is not the problem, allthough it is costly, but the AC is useless on the build anyway. Stoneskin, displacement and quickened repairs are your defence. Toughness is a good replacement. You need it to compensate your lack of hp.

I know a few battlemages that can handle any content in the game quite well.

And he has a Bab of 16. Which I believe is better than most Rogues. Yet they seem to be able to hit things at high lvl without too much difficulty.

Then there is the fact that if he uses his spells for buffs..
Well, a Displacment from a lvl 8 caster has the same 50% miss chance as one from a lvl 20 caster.
    A Blur the same 20%.
A Haste still has the same effects.

Yes, it's weak in some ways. Shorter duration, gets dispelled easily. But to get dispelled something has to cast dispel on him first.
And he can just recast it....faster than he can ask for someone else to recast it.

Battlemages of this type do have drawbacks of course.
And you have to understand what spells will be useful. And he will have trouble hitting things on Epic lvl.

But there are ways to adapt.

Yes, a rogue have a BaB of 15. I was unclear, with "you won't be able to hit anything" I meant offensive spells, you won't hit anything with em, cause spell penetration, DC checks, etc. Which what I understood wrong about this build. "I want a wizard that can cast and melee things to death" is something that doesn't work, but ok, thats not what this build is about.

14 starting dex on a 12 fighter build with mithril body and enough intel to pick up CE puts you in a very good position to achieve a meaningful ac... Not to mention it looks better
