    Default 12 Fighter/6 Ranger/2 Rogue Build Please?

    Hi all,

    I'm looking for a good build for a 12 Fighter/6 Ranger/2 Rogue.

    Please assume the following:

    Dwarf.
    TWF
    32 Point character.
Veteran character- created at level 4
+2 Major Tome to raise all stats by 2 used at level 7

Thanks in advance if anyone could point me to a build.

Though honestly I think you'd be better off going Fighter 18/Rogue 2, so you can get the third tier of Kensei (since I think that's better than Kensei 2/Tempest 1).

Regardless, this build should be pretty good. +10% base increase to attack speed with an extra 30% that you can self-boost, a pretty good UMD score (especially for a Dwarf that dump-stated CHA), you can self-boost your STR by 10, so you can get over 42 STR easy (for short bursts, anyway).

Also, I hope you like clickies, since this build is loaded with them (Haste Boost, Spring Boost, Energy Resist Boost, Attack Boost, Power Surge, Stunning Blow, Hamstring).

Unless you were looking for something slightly different than this?

I came up with something different - Dwarven Axe Murderer with a heaping side of trapmonkey:

I staggered out the fighter & ranger levels to maximize skill points; likewise I don't take rogue 2 until lvl 16 so I can dump it all into UMD. However that pushes your Evasion, ITWF & GTWF feats and prestige enhancements pretty far out. Though the tradeoff is you gain a lot of abilities between lvls 12 - 16: Kensai I at 12, ITWF & Tempest I at 13, GTWF at 15, Evasion at 16.

But if you care more about getting TWF and Tempest ASAP, I would do: rogue 1, ranger 1-6, rogue 2, then all fighter. You'd get ITWF & Tempest I at 7, Evasion at 8, GTWF at 12, Kensai I at 14. You won't be able to keep up your rogue skills at higher levels, though; I'd probably focus just on UMD and Open.

I was a bit lazy with my feat selections: Power Attack, Oversized TWF, Stunning Blow, and Iron Will can all be swapped around or replaced with something else. Though if you're making a beeline for Tempest by level 7, Dodge / Mobility / Spring Attack have to be your first three feats.

    I agree completly.

First, the Kensai III get the major boost of extra crit range (which is especially nice for a DA user, seeing as it equates to a 50% higher crit rate).
Second, the Kensai III can drop mobility, spring attack, and gets the 3 extra selectable feats for ftr. This means 5 more selectable feats. That could be used for S. Weap focus/spec, more saves (light reflex, luck of heros), more HP (up to 114 more with all toughnesses), more umd, etc...

The losses are 2 semi-FE (6pts dmg each), 2 shield AC when dual wielding, and bow strength/multishot (this is the only one that might make someone think, see below). The alacrity of tempest I doesn't stack with haste, so not missing much there unless soloing.

Personally, I think if you want to have good dps while dual wielding then just go all out tempest rngr. Get the 25% ranged alaricity, the extra off hand attacks, the extra +4 AC, the +5 bark skins and 30 resists. If you still wanted to mix in rog for skill pts 18 rngr/2 rog would only loose the 25% ranged alacrity.

Tempest and Haste do stack. Just like Zeal and Haste, But the 10% Necklace doesnt.

I love this build alot and sorry I kinda zerged past the others to give my two cents!!!!

Well starting stats may be wrong I'm only doing this via phone but they should look like that

    dwarf
    --------
    str 18
    dex 16
    con 17
    int 10
    wis 10
    char 6

+2 tomes to all max your str via lvling I would go with either kopeshes or bastard swords for your kensai

for skills you could invest in some trap monkey skills or add umd or balance or what ever your stly is the tempestI kensaiII and the sneak attack dmg with evasion is great dps

    I would go

    lvl1-rog
    lvl2-3rngr
    4-rog
    5-8rngr
    9-20-fighter

    rage+item+(x2madstone)+lvl+enhancements+tomes+base +rams+other items=high str lol

WF is great for this build IMO but dwarf is great as well and you could use dwarven axes

Also do this after update 3 so your skills are retroactive and you can take rog at
lower lvls with out messing your skills up

Skills retroactive? I just searched, then googled it, can you elaborate? It sounds like you're saying with update 3 you can take rogue levels right away without having to worry about saving that second level of rogue til later to be able to fill up UMD and other things that are cross class...

Didn't see anything about this in the release notes.

Hi, thought I'd give my 2 cents. I made this build on the fly as my main toon. I was going to go monster, but decided to do rogue instead. Having said there is a lot of room for improvement(i didn't have 32 pt build at the time). If I would've thought about it I could of done a lot better. Namely, the skills are really lagging behind.

I'm currently level 12 with this build. You can see by my join date I'm new, so I don't have uber gear.

My first interest was dps, obviously. Second, I wanted to be useful as a rogue. Third, I needed to solo, since I'm a new player and groups are very rare.

My 32 pt build would be this:

    str - 16
    dex - 15
    con - 16
    int - 12
    wis - 12

    ate a +2 superior tome at 7

If you're not well geared like I am the levels 1-8 were tough. Low AC I was getting smacked around quite a bit. Once you start taking fighter, though, HP starts adding up, and the DPS gets insane. Mobs die almost instantly on normal. I can solo(w/ a hireling) any quest I've come across(not raids, or 3/3 east threnal, or where you need 4 people) usually a lot faster than grouping.

Edit: Oops I totally missed the 12/6/2 and just notice you were looking for a 2WF DPS Dwarf possibly with rogue skills. All the below is for a 18Ranger/1F/1Ro split. Instead of just deleting I'll leave this though for comparison to the 12/6/2s. There's a lot to like about a Tempest III, and the below covers how to do that with or without Trap skills. Especially for trap skills the extra ranger levels work well, given Search being a ranger class skill, along with the extra skill pts per ranger level vs fighter.

    --------------------------------------

One thing to note here is that if going (nearly) full Ranger you do NOT need the same Dex others do for 2WF, they're auto/class feats. Most NON-rangers go 15 DEX +2 tome, but that's a waste on a non-AC ranger.

For a Dwarf DPS ranger with rogue splash, I recommend 13 DEX. Especially if you want Rogue skills beyond UMD you'll want those 2 build pts elsewhere. I also recommend considering 17 STR at start vs 18, those 3 points add a lot of flexibility too. (You still can't dump Dex below 13 however as that's what you need for Dodge and hence the full Tempest line. Still 13 vs 15 is 3 build pts on a Dwarf.)

I recently lesser +3'd my old Dwarf 15/2F/3Ro to 18/1/1 and went 17 13 15 14 11 6. 14 INT allows Search/Spot/Disable/UMD (he orig skipped UMD, this was added in the reinc)

I'm not really sure of anything I'd change, I'm really happy with this as is. He's got one Min II and decent offhanders and other weapon sets for almost everything now. Great DPS and while some don't care about it I love the full rogue skills. It's true the Kensai Strenght surge is fun on the other Dwarves I have, but I think the Ranger FA bonuses keep the 18/1/1 on par for DPS. And anyway I'm partial to having rogue skills where possible, you can kinda see that from this build as well as the the Rogue levels in the Warchanter in my sig.

Otherwise, if you don't care about rogue skills, 10 INT is fine and you get 18 STR / 16 CON and still full UMD.

If he has less then 12 Ranger levels he won't have GTWF.
A 6 Ranger/x build still needs to have a 17 Dex to qualify for GTWF.

Yep, I edited my post to clarify that the lower Dex pertained solely to 18/1/1s. Given Kensai III (18F/2Ra) was suggested above I wanted to go the other way and suggest Tempest III as another good option.
