    Default Notice Board Invasion

Wow umm, yeah that's a lot of notice boards all over the landscape.

Personally it looks all cluttered, especially House J with boards all along the roadway?

I know you're trying to point new players to the right direction but I'm not a fan of them all over the place. House P was better (I still didn't like them much). If we have to have 7 or 8 of them instead of one, it would look better to have them against the wall as you zone in or something...or by the House building?

I know I know, moving them out of the way means they're not directing new people but blah.

    Oh well

Yea, this was my only complaint about the redesign of all the house wards and the market place.

Yeah, everywhere. House J was one of the worst IMO...the road just as you turn right and go past the tavern...8 of them.

I mean I can tell the chalice concept on top of the board is WHY there are so many of them but wouldn't 1 or two boards with sub menus be SO much more clean?

With a multi-quest board with conversations, you'd have to forgo the quest chalice but your sub-menu could pop open a window like the Adventures tab which could indicate your quest status, completion level etc. You could have the quest description/flavor text above that small quest status block if those type of UI elements can be mixed that is. /sigh

Here's hoping we find something better

I actually like them. I'm a fan of dense areas with a lot of things in them, and these help make the wards feel "busy".

Busy. Yeah like the side of the highways at traffic lights the week before elections. Signs, and people waving at me trying to get my attention while I'm trying to go about my business.

    Different strokes

On the other hand, I REALLY like the reaction of the soldiers in House D saluting! I hope they DON'T do that if you have low favor with them, that would be AWESOME. /rolls up a newb character just to check

Better they be posted in obvious places easily visible to the new players than scattered. If they were scattered to make it more aesthetically pleasing not as many would notice them and thus defeat the boards original purpose.

Did you notice the notice boards?
    Yes?
    Then they served their purpose.
Sometimes the obvious answer is right there all along.

We didn't say anything about scattering them, it's the profusion of them all over that's over the top. Wouldn't you rather click on one board which had a list of all the quests in the area with CR and be able to click on one that you wanted more information on instead of going from signpost to signpost 8 times until you found the one you wanted?

Come now, be honest. If there was one sign inside the doorway of each House and it listed the different people to contact just like those 8 signs wouldn't that make MORE sense than 8 different places? In the market, they ARE scattered around.

I'm just thinking that there might be a missed opportunity here, use these boards to create a 1 stop place for people who are new to gather information about any area if they need, right where they zone in.

Maybe adding an UI option that turns them off would be possible?

Seriously, they did a nice job sprucing up the place then littered it full of notice boards.

The boards have got to go.

It could be condensed into one board, but then again, what happens if you overlook that one board? With the boards clustered, while it does create some eyesore, it its prominent. A collection of similar objects has a higher chance to catch someones eye when a color scheme is followed, than one object.

Could there be a meeting ground in between that would make the devs happy and the players happy? Im sure there very well could be. List some of the pros and cons while not discounting the Dev's current decision along with some new ideas. More ideas has never been a bad thing, its when one runs out of creative new ways to do things that problems arise.

I have to add my voice to the cries of "Get Rid of the Notice Boards !!!"

I find them to be invasive, and the sheer number of them to be just plain old ugly.

    That would work too.

Although I still think that a house wide "Contacts Board" or something like that (like the terminals in Borderlands) would be better, just turning them off would be fine. I'm guessing this is a UI tech issue.

I like the idea of the notice boards, but I agree - they're too scattered and there are just too many of them.

I like the idea of having just a few notice boards in the entrances of whichever ward/house you enter. Combine them into CR clusters, one board per level group (i.e. 1-4, 5-8, etc). Place them at the entrances only.

Again, I really like the idea of the boards because I don't know how many times I've had to google and/or search the forums for stuff like "menechtarun entrance" so as not to be ridiculed /advice.

HOWEVER, scattering the notice boards doesn't make it any better than having quest givers scattered about...meaning, people are still going to have to run all over the place and probably still not find anything.

The only place they seemed to fit in correctly without being a total eyesore imho was up on the platform of House P. Placed on the edge of the oplatform they did not look so bad. Mybe even add some rope or chain to make them appear as safety devices.

yup agreed on that. House P would look much better with notice boards ringing the circular platforms. Would be better to place notice boards near gates to other city areas, and outside taverns, instead of haphazardly placing them in house J right outside the teleport portal, and some other places

Maybe have one BIG notice board. Like a giant message board instead of all the little ones would make it a more cleaner look. You'd still notice it because it's bigger and it could get the job done.

The posts are really messy looking and won't help people anyway since they are already spread out. Put one at the gate to each area, one next to the house portals, put everything on that one.

Same here. It gives the areas more life.
