It is very discouraging to run one of those quests even three times, and not get a part; and your odds are worse than that.

    On Dismissal:
I don't mind the dismissal effect being AoE; and maybe I don't understand the changes. If he casts banishment, does everyone in the room have to make a save or is it just everyone in the vicinity of point of banishment?

If he nails caster and bard because he targeted one that was near the other, that happens, no different than the tanks all having to make a save for being in melee. This is how I assumed the changes were put in place.

If every time he spams the spell forces everyone in the room is make a save, without regards to vicinity, this is going to have a deep effect on forming the raid as many people will be too discouraged by past failure.

I like the idea of banishing the indirect threats, but to wipe a raid on a few bad rolls, which will happen if everyone is forced to save every time, is a pretty weak way to scale up the challenge. D&D uses dice rolls to figure success or failure, and any DM knows that save or die is part of the game, but is not fun for players, especially in mass, and therefore is discouraged. Banishment in this raid is far worse of a punishment than death.

If the room is saving against Banishment each time, boots are nearly as much of a requirement as flagging and drop rate of parts should be significantly increased.
No is not the whole room just a differing of targetted AoE ... he currently uses banish every 30seconds to one minute ... in a high dps (a lot of booted melee) he may get 2 or so banishment off when are less boots on melee maybe 10-15 or so. It's uninteruptable and does not follow our own casting time or cooldowns.

Personally after the change I would be reluctant to take any prime party memeber in without boots. Loss of a cleric, bard or caster and anyone dealing with sally halfway through the end fight in a pug group actually can mean failure of the whole group. Not so much in a Guild run... but the risks still exist.

Thus comes to this... if you wish to run this raid, get boots or tell the group and ask politely if they mind taking someone less then adequate.

My view on this is ... I suspect the random banish targeting was intended in the original design to prolong the quest life of devils-battlefield ... However power gamers are saturated from the raid by now, more interested in the next big raid or area... the casuals may not persue it due to the time consumed and low payback to just gaining boots ... as such this area of the game may become a ghosttown.

As far as evert post i have read on the subject (which is only two or three) the common sensus is that it banishes all in the room hitting everysingle person not individual targeting ... however i am not currently doing it on lamma so i don't have first hand knowledge would love it if someone who did it on lama could tell us

has that been confirmed on a post or have you tried it yourself?

yeah lot of us have been saying that it was prolly in the origional design and had it been there may not have been as much an uproar when it got changed.

I will be sad if this becomes like the abbot is where people get so fustrated trying to get raid ready that they completly ignore the area and just dont play it cause you dont have to ....

I dont think they realize that as the game expands and as areas become ignorable the ones that are annoying to prep for will never get run anymore. And then they fall into the whole only run for favor and skip the raid like so many do now for necrop now.

    Smile reguardless

so reguardless of how you feel about the quests to prep they have stated boot ingredients have significantly increased drop rates in update 3 so lets stop crying bout that one

as for tod becoming a ghost town where else you gonna get +4 tomes ive got 2 in 4 months i gathered all my boot ingredients in the same time have 5 complete ring sets and the loot sells to venders for decent prices. and im only on my 13th run hoping for another tome on #20

if pugs stop running the battlefield those of us who prefer to play rather than whine will just run the quests and sell the ingredients at astronomical prices so you can get in with no work.

problem solved. by the way i trade boot ingredients for 2 large devil scales on a regular basis cant wait for drop rates to increase i dont have to farm shroud for larges anymore

haven't seen a thread that said they have increased significantly i know it wasnt in the release notes or I wouldnt have started this post.

and everything else you said makes no sense whatsoever ... how does increased drop rates = higher value?

if they actually did increase drop rates rather then you just saying they did ...that would lower there value ... your view of economics is very warped.

but then again looking at AH prices .... so is everyone elses.

by the way +4 tome does nothing more then a +3 and +3's are easier to farm dont require any boots or annoying prep quests only time +4 tome counts is if its an int/con tome or if you have a character that requires multiple high stats rather then just two or one and two medium stats.

cha only accounts for minimal sp or 1 skill point/save
STR well with a +1 tome i can hit 50 on my fighter so the difference of a +4 would be 53 which is 1 point of damage more per hit.
dex if your lucky will give you 1 ac point.
con will add 5-20 hps (biggest difference)
int will give 1 skill point maybe but if you have a 9 int base then you might use it for CE

yeah i dont see how i would care if i never got a +4 ever.

+5's and you might have an argument but +4 ... not really especially if farming +3's gets me raid gear and large ingredients.

    Default reading

the release notes were edited a while ago

    read the red parts

+4 tomes rock when you have them in your invintory you can plan your base stats accordingly giving you more points to boost other stats without sacrafice.or fill holes in your build for dump stats you wouldent normally fill out because its not optimal. this is extreamly helpfull for reincarnating. or say boosting saves based on stats you wouldent normally fill out. barbs could all use a +4 tome to avoid getting commanded with the popularity of min/maxing who couldent use a tome to help ballance those dump stats. (+5 is a pipe dream +4 falls ingame and in the same quest frequently)

higher drop rates will equal higher profits because doom and gloomers wont go run quests theyll buy ingridents even if i cut prices in half ill get more volume think walmart vs everyone else

I will agree as someone who has reincarnated +3-4 tomes are nice to have pre incarnation ... but you say it like they drop at a rate of one per mission ... and that is not the truth at all i have done over 30 total (three characters preped for raid only one with boots) in all that preping and grinding out the items i wanted i managed to only have to buy one ingredient to have one set of boots current game ... and in 30 runs have never seen a +4 ... i heard a guildy got one in a pug group other wise i wouldnt even believe they exist.

I would be most people run the mission 20 times on same character before they ever see a +4 tome .. and that is IF its in there 20th runs. Planning for +4 seems really silly to me.

I've never even seen the blood in a chest, much less with my name on it. When you can just load the ingredients, it makes it a lot easier though, right devs?
they do play the game yet when they want to get an item they just type it up and place it in there pack so no biggie for them

ive gotten 5 bloods so far and honestly i havent done bastion that many times but i do seem to pull them. the ones i have pulled i think half the time i opened the chest myself

yap reason i gave up on that raid & never ever get any of my chars flagged.
I got like 1 ingredient , thats it.
Besides the Loot are **** anyway for my cleric & i bet also for my bard.
So even without the update to ToD i wouldnt bother.

Same way with LITTANY OF DEAD or whats it name from nekropolis.
Make sigil of 10 pieces. or was it 20 ??
Dont know, exept i got 2 chars, who both got 1 part.

So for all i care erase those 2 raids, they fill my harddrive like a virus.
