Hello-

I copied over my drow sorc - needed to buy
Copied over my dwarf cleric - logged in - logged out-
Unlocked drow good to go.

It would have been nice for the copy page to update when the copy was done...
I let it work for 5 min, then hit refresh - it showed it was done with the copy.

I ran into a few problems at around 1pm Jan 9, but didn't write them down. Sorry if this is vague.

i) I have premium status on other servers and automatically have 4 character slots there, but only have 2 slots on Lamannia

ii) not knowing the above, I copied over three characters, and was planning on creating a fourth. Two characters were available on login to Lamannia, and I had to pick which two I wanted to be active, with the other one remaining greyed out.

iii) Since I wanted to roll a new character on Lamannia to test something in casual mode with a lvl 2 fresh from Korthos, I deleted one of the active characters. I can't remember if I deleted the greyed out character as well at this time - I might have, but I can't remember.

iv) I went through the character creation for a new cleric, and it didn't show up properly on my character list - instead of "cleric", I think it said "unknown" or something like that, and I couldn't enter that character. I think I deleted the new character (as well as the greyed out one if I hadn't done that earlier), and shut down the DDO client.

v) upon logging back in, I was able to create another new character, and it all worked fine. I'm guessing this has something to do with trying to create a new character while I have one greyed out.

Character #2 - Born and raised on Thelanis, copied fine and up to date
Character #3 - Born on Aundair, merged to Khyber, Renamed, then Moved to Thelanis - in Prod he is Level 13, in Dev he is Level 11. Not sure when/where his data was pulled from. Havent tried to reincarnate yet. Will try that this week, I hope.

Tried again tonight - got the page with the lil green arrows after several refreshes. Clicked three chars, hit transfer, and got a 404 that a dozen refreshes (with Retry pop-up box) wouldn't budge.
Curiosity forces me to go log in and look if they got thru before getting 404-napped.

They made it! Even my Taxx-misnamed-as-Chukky character.

For the record, I succeeded with:

Going to charactercopy page without being logged in, getting the 'beta access required' page.
Logging in on that page without Remember Me checked, as someone else mentioned.
Refresh about 3 times.

There are two statements from the original announcement that are at odds:

• You can only copy each character ONCE.
• Lamannia is a preview-only server, and Lamannia character data/copies may be wiped at any time between or during previews.

So if I copy a character and you decide to wipe it, I can never copy it back to Lammania? How about at least resetting the 'once' when YOU choose to wipe?

I was never able to get the character transfer page to load by navigating to the url. I tried logging in and out of myddo, refreshing, etc.

I was(fairly reliably) able to get the page to load by:

going to the page...
going to some other page...
And hitting the back button.

I have no idea why this worked, but it seems that there is some kind of issue here.

I'll test it out again when I get home, since from reading around here it seems I'll need to transfer my favor character over as well so that I can actually play the fvs I swapped over.

No problem accessing the character copy page, was logged in and opened the link in a new tab.

Main copied over nicely, did a GR before noticing that her metalline light mace is now called a "transmuting" light mace. so that might be a problem in the copying or in the reincarnating.

I would love to test Lesser Reincarnation on my FvS (since I might actually use that on him) but of course he's a FvS so no. Have to get one toon other than my Drow to 400 favor so I can check out if her items all copied over correctly.

I have to admit I was skeptical about this. I copied only two characters, my wizard and my monk, as I saw them benefiting most from the changes coming in Update 3 and wanted to test things out (Pale Master and Monk changes).

Worked like a charm. Sohryu and Tabris are exactly as they were last night when I logged off of Ghallanda. I was surprised at how fast it was, clicked "copy", went afk for a few minutes, came back, refreshed the page, and it was done.

This is simply jaw-dropping awesome. One of the things that turned me off the most about Lamannia before now was having year-old copies of my toons, with mediocre gear and all the noobish mistakes that I'd made on them still intact. Now having my fully twinked, capped out versions available on the test server has given me the incentive to actually go out and play around over there.

Yes now the disappointing thing is the community isn't helping out that much. I've been on 3 times now, 20,25,6 total players on test.

I've logged in twice so far, and there's only been a dozen other players each time. Not that it really bothers me as I'm only there to try out lesser/greater reincarnation so I don't need to find a group...

I copied two characters with no issues, they seem to have all their gear and favor. My main has the 1750 favor that I got up to just before transfer, which is good. It remains to be seen whether I can reincarnate as a 32 point build, though; I haven't got that far yet.

The copying seems to work okay, but I'm a little concerned about the limits imposed on it, as others have commented. Will I only ever be able to copy five characters, even if they get wiped by Turbine? Or will a wiped character be able to be re-copied at a later stage? It would be nice to know.

I'm seeing a Character that I know I have deleted. but it keeps showing up ever after it's been done for months.

I downloaded and installed Lamannia for the first time last night. That went pretty well. The character copy part was problematic at best. I tried numerous times at work with no success, but I attributed that to an older version of IE. I also had no success at home as well following all of the tips I read on this thread (with my laptop or desktop). Just for the heck of it I tried to do the character copy on my iPhone and it worked for me right away... No idea what the deal was with that, but I'm in now, so it's all good.

I am not sure how I can get TP points on Lamannia though because I wanted to test some of the new stuff. I was sort of hoping my points would xfer over with my chars, but no such luck. So with a zero balance at the store it looks like I won't be testing anything there.

Regardless of all of that, I look forward to testing what I can as I am not seeing a lot of first hand info on the things I am interested in.

After a failed transfer is there a length of time before which a transfer can be attempted again or is it impossible to test that character on Lamannia?

Looks like it may be a browser issue:

Windows 7 + IE8 = FAIL

Windows 7 + Firefox3 = WIN

Tried several variations of logging in / out etc with IE8 but no joy. Switched to Firefox, logged into myddo and it worked first time.

Chrome works too. For me the only toon that failed was my TRd monk

We should be able to "Wipe" our characters from the lamannia server via myddo, so that we can re-copy our characters after they have leveled on the regular servers. I downloaded lamannia so I could test out the new wizzy enhancements, but my character didnt have the right feats, and was 1 lvl away from 18. But of course, I copied him over before I knew all the prerequisites, so now hes useless as a test character. Would it be possible to implement something like the above? I just think its a bad idea to only be able to copy "once".

Copied over 5 characters.
Saw the copy complete later that day - FAST!
Logged in to try the reincarnations.
Realized I didn't copy over my last remaining 28-point build.
Deleted one of the copied characters.
I don't have the option of adding the 28-pointer to by copied.

I know it says once a character is copied it can't be copied again, but how can I remove one and replace it with a different character?

Would really like to try the Greater Reincarnation on my 28-point ranger.

Coppied 3 characters

level 20 fighter, transfered from Kyber to Sarlona when he was level 16, listed on the transfer sheet as level 16 on Kyber, coppied as a level 16 fighter

Level 19 - 16 fighter/3 pally - created on Sarlona, listed on Sarlona, no problem with the transfer

Level 18 - 17 cleric/1 sorc - created on Sarlona, never transfered, listed on Kyber with "character details unknown" - coppied as a level 1 cleric

I can kinda understand the first one, the data for the transfers is probably a bit old, but have no clue on the third one. Never transfered this character, and never had a cleric with this name on Kyber.

Also, although I have not tried to copy, I do have a favored soul on Sarlona with the same name that I used for a cleric on Kyber, it is listed correctly on the copy page as a favored soul level 10 on Sarlona.

Failed character now i cant copy that character again and its also taken up as 1 of my 5. Thats not my fault it failed.
