Default I have no idea what I'm doing

But I decided to make a bard. And instead of consulting those wiser than me prior to creation, I'm going to do it now at the whopping level of 2.

I don't really even know what kind of bard I want to make, because I'm not sure what the pros and cons of each are.

The one I did make had 18 strength, 10 dex, 10 con, 8 int, 8 wis, and 14 cha. It's a human, I took great sword proficiency. I basically wail on things with my great sword and heal myself.

I was initially thinking of going the warchanter route, but I want to be able to buff and off-heal in a meaningful capacity. Is that still possible with a more strength based build? Should I dump this character and go all charisma and all spells and songs and such?

Basically...tell me what to do please

Your con is low, if you were to re roll you could lower str and/or cha a little to boost your con. A Warchanter with a starting 12-14 cha will be able to do plenty of self buffing and some ok off healing. You could proceed as you are but you are going to die more than you should since you won't have many hp. Also you should reroll if you decide to take a different bard path, as they are better with more cha for sp and/or DC's.

Can a spellsinger bard still do decent damage in melee? It seems like I need some sort of melee. Should I go for thf or twf?

To melee you need to live and with 10 con on a bard you will not be living much.. Go warchanter to. Reroll for a higher con.

I made a very viable Warchanter with a starting Charisma of 10. You need to get a Charisma item to cast spells, but the songs are what makes the Warchanter shine anyhow, and you should be able to find a +1 Charisma item as an end reward, or in a chest, or if all else fails for pretty cheap on the AH.

Put those other points into your Constitution.

If you are going to make a Spellsinger, then max your Charisma (but still put some more points into your Constitution).

In any case, it is probably wise to re roll now before you get to level 8 or 9 and really start to feel the lack of hit points.

If I go full blown warchanter, would it be better to go with THW or TWF? Would I still be able to contribute to CC with charms and what not? Or is that something that will drop off as I rise in level?

Are you using 28 point builds? I ask because twf has more DPS potential but THF requires less stat distribution.

In other words, you need high dex, str, con and a moderate cha for a twf but you only need high str, con and moderate cha for thf.

Also the thf feats are not nearly as crucial as the twf feats if you can't fit them all in.

If you are on 28pt builds, I go with THF personally. Not only is it easier on the stats, but as a new player, you won't have to worry about finding twice the number of decent weapons. Also, NEVER spend a feat for a martial weapon proficiency. First, bard's get a spell called Master's Touch that grants all martial weapon proficiencies. Use that for any two-handed weapons you desire. If you decide to go with TWF, it would likely be worthwhile to take Exotic Weapon Prof: Khopesh, but that's all you should ever spend a feat on for a melee proficiency.
