I know that plusses from bow and ammunition do not stack (+2 arrows from a +1 bow are just +2), but does extra damage stack? IOW, what happens if you fire Giantbane arrows from a Giantbane bow?

if they are differant banes, they stack for sure (so lesser XX bane stacks with greater XX bane)
not sure how it is if they are the same, most likely they work like when you use shock arrows on a shock bow

Unfortunately, you don't get the +4 extra damage when using a greater bane bow no matter what arrows you are using (you do get the extra +4 to-hit and the 3d6, however). Note that you do get the +4 to damage when using a melee greater bane, and this has prompted me to submit several bug reports about the situation. I've never received any sort of response so I don't know whether this is working as intended or not, however.
I've never tested greater bane arrows for the +4 to damage, so I don't know whether you get it when using the arrows or not, although I can tell you that the +4 to-hit and the extra 3d6 definitely do not stack when using both a greater ban bow and greater bane arrows. Technically, the bonus to damage when using both bows and arrows does stack, but only because (at least in the case of the bow) there is no bonus to stack.
Presently I have a +1 Bow of Lesser Reptilian Bane. So if I understand you all correctly, I should sell all Masterwork arrows, +1 arrows, and +1 arrows of Reptilian Bane -- all of them are no better to me than plain regular arrows. Only arrows +2 or higher, or with some other extra effect are worth keeping.
BTW, what is the advantage of silver arrows?
+1 arrows of reptilian bane are useful, because "reptilian bane" is better than "lesser reptilian bane".
and Silver arrows are useful, because...
Well...
They're silver. Bypass vampire DR, or help bypass Devil DR.

"Hey cleric, do you heal?" "Well, I have a blue bar, and it's going down when your health goes up, what do you think?"
You're correct. And arrows such as silver, cold iron etc. bypass certain mobs damage reduction.
Sorry, yeah, regular bane > lssr bane.
And if you insist on wielding that bow go looking for a Silver Bow, and after that a Lightning II bow from the Shroud.

Why do people respond with these absolutely sure answers without testing them first.
They stack....sorta. The extra damage is rolled seperately.
Easy to test. Turn in Icons of Khyber till you get a Lesser Reptiliian Bane bow and a bunch of Reptiliian Bane arrows.....go do Kobold Assault and observe three sets of damage numbers on your screen.
Whether they should stack or not is a different subject. A DM in PnP would most likely say they will not stack. But DDO uses a much simpler math. It doesn't care what the extra damage type is. it simply rolls that damage seperately.
So Flaming Bows and Flaming arrrows also produce three damage numbers on your screen.
Just like a Frost Bow and Flaming arrows, or a shock bow and frost arrrows.
type makes no difference in DDO they are handled the same way.
Edit: btw this can make an archer with the right bows/arrows do some very significane damage. But the arrows drop so rarely and in such small quantities that it is rarely useful.
But with all your other chars sending all special arrows to one archer, you can occasionally run the right quest, with the right arrows and be rewarded by a very high kill count on a supposedly gimped archer.
Sadly, you won't have enough arrows to do it for two quest in a row.![]()
Test it out sometime. It's a bit confusing with bows, because the to-hit bonus (which you can see right away) does include the +4, and it's significantly more difficult to test the damage part of it. But, if you hit enough times you will eventually notice that you're getting damage numbers that are below what the minimum value would be if you were also getting the +4 to damage. Perhaps if more than one person is bug reporting it they will finally pay some attention and either fix it or announce that it is working as intended.
