    Default The Hate

I am on Cannith, and I put up an LFM asking for reincarnates only, as a test.. because PUGs are getting annoying to me and a friend who have reincarnated because we need to run everything a lot more, and more effeceintly... I get this on a tell:

<\Player> tells you, 'haha lmao...people who TR are the ones you don't want in your group....you really think because they make it to lvl 20 means they know how to play????get a grip and put up a proper lfm'
<\Player> tells you, 'I've been playing this game along with many others for 3years and let me tell you TR is a waste of time on all toons except 28 point favor toon builds on new servers....got it?'
<\Player> tells you, 'got your name..hope we meet up in a pug'
<\Player> tells you, 'show you how to play'

a few min later: <\Player> tells you, 'u could have been done the whole circuit already....man o man where people get there ideas.....

I feel weirded out to say the least... It was so abrupt...

meh, some players take it as a personal slight if someone puts something that excludes them from joining their LFM.

You didn't bring enough gum for the whole class - and the weird paste-eating kid who smells like wet paper wanted to sulk a bit.

In this day and in this country you could walk down the street handing out $100 bills and someone would complain about it.

Many ftp players suck, really really hard.

Many are still good. Maybe dont know a lot about the game yet - but they know who to you know - find quests and right click on things to make them go away - which is painful to group with when they dont.

Trying to filter out bad players is always going to get you hate though, because it makes you look like both a jerk and someone who cannot handle the quest unless you get "tr heavy hitters come help me pls".

I have seen a few lfms on ghallanda like that, and joined one. The person posting wasnt all that good even though they were a TR, and didnt know details about the quest you would assume someone posting "No noobs TR only" would know about would know.

So it only reinforces the view that someone posting 'tr only' cant handle content that many people can solo long before they ever reincarnated - and even after reincarnating they STILL cant handle it and need saving.

Posting something along the lines of "Know where the quest is and what your doing" may not filter out eveyrone, but it will get less hate. And it gives you an excuse to boot anyone that joined up and immediately asks "What house is the Wiz king in?"

I will admit that I don't know every quest.. because I have a bad memory from a medical problem... The reason I put up that type of LFM was not because of elitism... it is because, we repeat quests A LOT. And halfway thru a norm would say..'Can we do it on hard? or can we do another quest?' It does not matter if a person can run solo, if they know a sphincter inside out... It is about time... and the use of it...

So saying no n00bs or experience only can work.. once, maybe twice.. then they go away, while the reincarnate stays behind to grind... THAT is the main problem.

And getting grief is just uncool...

I was the other guy in that party from start and I must say after having my own pug with the description "Tangleroot be experienced, zerg xp runs" and having members asking "what are we doing" and "how do I get to house P?" an all TR party can be rather calming.

Kinda funny but not really that surprising. I've noticed that often people perceive anything that excludes them- for any reason, to be a personal insult, even if it's just an LFM.

    Hi, Welcome.

I would bet, that if they were a TR'd character, they would not have sent you any tells.

    That. Sorta.

Sometimes I'll throw up LFM's for stuff I plan/start to run solo (but willing to let people pike along), and I'll add some stupid, nearly impossible to fulfill requirement in the comments...

ie: "Reincarnates ONLY, must use greensteel weapons" [6-9 stormcleave]

Most people know Im joking, but i'm assured at least a few people send me ****y /tells calling me a noob or whatever.

I think it's less about people finding insult in perceived exclusion and more about some people desperately looking for an opportunity...any opportunity to put others down/boost themselves up.

Yeah, Tangleroot is so hard with sub-standard players. It must have been terrible! <rolls eyes>

Except that; He never said it was hard.

The LFM asked for " experienced ", and they had several apparently who didn't even know where house P was.

    What does that tell you?

Did a "Tangleroot, zerg xp runs" a few days a go. Must give credit to the guy that putting up the LFM for realy keeping what he wrote =). What suprised me was not questions but more that some of the people in the group didn't enjoyed "the fast run". Personaly I love when people write something additional to to describe how they like to quest so that I know what to expect.

Would still recomend putting up a LFM "heavy repeating, zerg xp runs" or someting like that.
But I'm a bit suppriced that people complained becource of your LFM for TR.

I agree with this. It is all in the wording. 'TR only' limits your potential party members. There are certainly lots of experienced players out there that can zerg, know the quests, and have the stomach to do heavy repeating for fast XP grinds.

I would humbly suggest to those that put up TR only lfms to change it to something slightly more inclusive. Something like , "experienced zergers only" or "only experienced XP grinders need apply". This will probably net you a few more potentially good party members and generate a little less angst from the rest of the population.

OTOH, with dungeon scalling, why bother adding other members to your group at all if time is the biggest factor.

For me, it depends on how I am feeling. I am sort of torn between the fearless leader having absolutely no plan of attack and being really really fussy.

LFM Tangleroot. Caster must have Haste, Firewall, and Web. Fighter must have min 15 Intimidate, Rogue must have minimum 12 Search unbuffed. TWF only, no sword and board. And no Dwarfs need apply....

    OR......

LFM any level any class to do something, I don't care what.

Both scare me, but I wouldn't waste any time sending a tell to anyone who posted either of them.

    What quests and what levels?

I would never bother to send someone a tell, but I'd probably think less of someone who put up an LFM like that...

    (1) As a TR uber-twink, you should be able to carry most quests no matter how bad your team is...

    (2) As a TR, you should be doing quests at or 1 above level to maximize your exp... which means the quests you should be doing are even easier...

    (3) There are plenty of good players who are not TR... If you want to be picky, that's okay, but be picky about the right things... "Cult of Six - Be self-sufficient" is a smarter LFM than "Cult of Six - TR only" (and will fill faster)

I think its funny that people put up lfm TR's only. Sure there are some bad pugs of recent but I think it really speaks more for the leader then anything. If someone feels the only way they can get through a dungeon is everyone having 2 more creation points and pimp gear so be it.

I can drag some pretty awful players through some tough quests. Granted sometimes I will leave them dead til the end if they are really bad but they get the completion.

Being an elitist at low levels is lame. But it was a cool story.
