    Is Acid rain -that- bad? At first glance it would look to be a slightly weaker (at level. Fair bit at higher level i guess) and half length firewall that works on things that are immune to firewall.

    At level when you get it it doesn't look too bad, and at higher level it would be interesting against stuff immune to firewall (sure as hell better than tossing a 1 shot spell for twice the SP...). May not be as hot once you get Polar Ray, sure, but...

    The situation differs from level to level but most of the time the fire/cold is considerably better then acid/elec. There's nothing you can do, just accept it. :-) (I dont like fire/cold neither)
    Nonetheless the entire game is well playable without maximized WoF.

    By the way, friend of mine, extremely experienced DDO geek (he plays it continuously since the launch), says that in the end-game content WoF is much less potent because the devils/demons are immune to fire.

    They are. The catch is that after that, the most popular alternatives are Cone of Cold and Polar Ray

    And ball lightning. Most things have resistance to cold and acid, immunity to fire, but no protection at all against lightning. The problem is that few people have the enhancements to make the most of lightning, so the cold spells get used instead.

    Thats not even close though. 15d6 damage with a reflex save for half.

    Polar Ray is 20d6 without a saving throw. Its just harder to fuel (since getting superior glaciation 6 is tricky).

    Will take one hell of a resist to even it out (that said, I wasnt aware that devils resisted it... since the numbers i've seen were pretty much consistant with 20d6 + meta + gears + enhancements)
