First, No one is fearful of PVP. 95% of End game players have casters. Casters that wreck up the place in the brawling pit. Its just not worth the time to do it.

Second. Fearful...endgame players that casn run circles around most PVP players are....afraid?

What all of these people are talking about is the fact that ANYONE who is GOOD at this game can jump on a caster, do a bar crawl around stormreach pwning people, and think they accomplished something.

They in fact, did not.

In this game PVP is a throw back. Its there for the limited populace who want to engage in it. Thats all its there for, thats all it ever will be there for.

statements like "You will comply" and "Its the future, deal with it" Mean absolutely nothing.

Go to the DDOCast thread and read the myriad DDO webcasts that have been done. Take a listen to what they say about PVP. Guess what? its not that hot a topic. Why? Because DDO brings more mature players, who like to focus on enjoying the game rather than sitting in a PVP braling pit and...Pwning noobs.

Thats my oppinion, I unfortunately welcome yours.

pvp exists, pvp forum exists. until you inform turbine of their alleged mistake in having both your 'analog' doesn't hold water.
if you don't like pvp, don't keep coming back here

i still would like a pvp rating system and more pvp development. i'm sure there are other people who do as well

There is a big difference between the two of us. One of us came to this game with wide open eyes, taking in the game and playing it for what it was.

The other of us came to this game with a clsoed mind and when it wasn't what he wanted stomped his foot on the forums acting like a child.

Obviously, Mr. December 09 is the latter.

You instantly labeled yourself for people to come in here and refute your claims when you gave short, unthoughtful responses labeled with phrases like

Sorry son but Endgame in this game is getting a toon to cap, geared, and then TRing into the most helpful class and grinding him up again.

There should never be tangible rewards for PvP in this game. It is simply not set up for it - and PvP itself was shoehorned in.

The only people I know who treat PvP seriously at end-game are the people who get off on one-shotting lowbies in the Lobster.


PvP has never been a huge priority of the Dev team, and I hope it never is.

Yeah, its a pain when you go into an combat area of most pubs with a party member or friend to check on various saves/ac/ to hit, or to see how much your blocking with a shield helps ( at lvl 4-10 ) and get insta-killed by lvl 18-20 casters that have nothing better to do then making my task almost impossible.

It would be nice if they could add lvl ranges to the various pubs and class restrictions too. so us melee types could go and test out new weapons and armor with a friend without the "godly" casters making me sad that magic hurts me soo much. :-)

obviously the tavern brawl area is a bad place to acquire points for such a rating system. too many variables like people jumping in and ganging up on someone.
maybe if it's just limited to organized duels and capture the flag games it would help people feel like the rating is fair

maybe if we had tournaments that were organized by dms for pvp with more rewards and stuff like when they spawn boss mobs in the tavern it would fire people up as well.

actually any kind of special event where there are rewards for coop would be enjoyable as well.

Not to go stomp on a lvl 1 char with my lvl 20 cleric or simillar, in my mind that would be too boring.
On the other hand i tried capture flag with friends same lvl, thats cool. Only couce no raid group for the named stuff i need - rofl.
But that was 1 time in the hmm 13 weeks i been gaming.
So honestly i wouldnt want any game maker to spend even 2 mins working on pvp stuff.

But thats just my oppinion.

imagine you get 5kplat for winning a ctf game

then 2 friends make a 1on1
one let the other win, he gets 5kplat
then they do it again but let the other win, now both have 5k plat

repeat that till all are platcapped

if you dont see how that is destroying the game, you should reroll

Since Turbine took a dump on endgame by recycling old quests into "EPIC" (epic fail), recycling the entire game into True Reincarnation, and the last 2 updates of high level quests we got were complete trash.

A PvP rewards system would be awesome. A bigger PvP system would be awesome. So it's out of your personal comfort zone, so effing what? Just choose not to play it. It's not that complicated. They could make it so it wasn't game-breaking.

100 mana pots for 490 destroys the game. 100 mana pots for 1490 destroys the game. Turbine is doodooing all over the game already. PvP won't destroy the game it will only destroy your self esteem when you get owned. Don't get your blood pressure all raised up over it, it's just players killing players for fun in a videogame.

As a side note: I think Shadowbane has closed.

There would be a myriad of advantages to having a more robust pvp system - particularly in that it would offer something else to do at 'endgame', but content should be focussed on first, due to the huge resources required to fix DDO pvp.

manapots can be used by everyone (though on fighters it doesnt really make sense, but if tehy want, they can use them)
pvp on the otherhand is just for a small part of the classes, mainly casters, cause they wipe the floor with everything else
balancing this game to pvp will destroy why we are playing this game: pve
