it was obviously enough to satisfy oodles of players.
But I came back thinking about how great of a game guild wars was content wise.
Guild Wars was highly involved when it came to PVE, some guilds never even participated in pvp - but PVP was there.
It also had guild ranks and guild halls. I'm not looking for ddo to emulate any other games but i think taking an idea that works and making it DDO's own would be great. Like incorporating some kind of guild rating or purchased/attained favor from a raid or raids into buying housing for players or guilds would be great

Making one zone for pvp would be great too, similarly to turbine's other game - lord of the rings online.
Which, by the way, also has an abundance of pve experience.

The way they did it was make several keeps and such that can be occupied by the monsters of mordor or the free people of middle earth. A raid group could continually roam around and find another raid group to run with or fight against all the while gaining experience, items, and favor.

Something like this would be a great addition to ddo.
You could have people pick sides or something at character creation

Oh Absolutely. You could do ALL of that.
Or, you could fix bugs that are currently in game, create new content at lower levels where the game tends to become a grind, and focus on The Base Classes and races we haven't seen yet.

Or, we could let your Devs painstakingly try and copy PVP elements from other games.

I understand the want for PVP. It is just not as big as you claim. This thread is in the PVP forums.

How many people have jumped on your bandwagon and said "Great Idea! Lets get the Devs working on this ASAP!!!"

    *listens to the crickets*

    Exactly.

PVP improvements over time, and small enough that the Devs don't have to take away from Content/Race/Class building = Thumbs up.

PVP Improvements that take up most of the Devs time, such as a realm specifically for PVP.= Thumbs down.

Thats my oppinion, and the oppinion of most established players.

    We unfortunately welcome yours.

as noone is using the ''big'' pvp which is already in game (the arenas) what makes you think pvp is wanted?

besides that, you have yet to bring any argument besides i-want-it

sure i want it. maybe you don't.
as i stated, pvp adds to the longevity & popularity of every game like this that has ever existed.
i find it amusing that you think that any further 'argument' in favor is required.

The most I'll get behind as far as PvP goes.. are these things.

    1. Arenas with level caps. We have enough bar areas after all.
    2. leadership board. We were promised this back in Mod 3. We have passed mod 9 and update 1 now.

Thank the D&D gods that this will never happen in D&D or DDO. If your looking for a good to great PvP game DDO is not it.

yea actually the pvp is awesome in ddo
nothing like an intense duel with a high quality caster that lasts over a full minute. (legit rules banning dances and stuns)
they are rare but that's what makes pvp alluring.

As explained above, to add that feature would make PVP less fun that it is currently.

The DDO game mechanics are very imbalanced, so that if two characters go and try their best at fighting it will rarely be fair and interesting: one guy will probably win reliably using a boring tactic.

What happens today is that sometimes the superior guy willingly tries to hold back from using his best abilities, or the inferior guy goes ahead and fights even though he knows the odds are really stacked against him. The players are working around the balance problems so that PVP can happen. But if the results of the battle are being added to a permanent record for all to see, then many players will be less willing to enter PVP at all unless they think the can win.

There is no basis for this outlandish claim in reality whatsoever.
