We were talking about crying nerf - and generally people cry nerf about other player's builds - even in a PvE centred game; i.e. the monk splash is too powerful. This is because they feel that their builds have been invalidated.

You don't have to be killing each other to be competing with each other.

You certainly don't have to killing each to be willing to cry nerf against each other.

    .

yea i think that what would need to be done to make pvp something we would all want to spend our time doing; to make some kind of reward system separate from the current economy like a guild vs guild point system for winning in capture the flag (one example out of a billion) where your guild gets points for beating other guilds at some kind of pvp game and can eventually buy a guild hall...
or whatever in a zone off of the marketplace where you can see player housing.
consumables and items out of the store could be purchasable with individual player points or maybe even some different ingredients. the sky is the limit.

as for exploits, every concept that can be thought of can be exploited without proper execution and should never be a reason to not do something out of fear that someone might find some exploit in your game.
    kind of crazy.

Making PVP the way to get guild housing = Fail.

Pasting up a leader board that no one will pay attention to? = Harmless.

Ok I admit it. you can have your leader board. We'll keep track of your capture the flag games. We'll keep trck of your death matches.

What we won't do is give you Free Plat, Loot, Tokens you can use in the DDO Store( OBVIOUSLY not that, Turbine makes money off the Store), or Ingredients to craft with.

If they somehow got the revenue to say put a two man team, that was totaly sepeate from the PVE developers. on developing PVP content, all accessible through jackson Laws in the taverns, and it had its own leaderboard and things, Whatever.

Take away from Content updates for it, and I gaurantee you will hear alot more complaints than are contained in this thread.

And Twerpp, Beautiful Posts. Did you actually take time off Pwning Noobs in the Lobster to type those up? *Eyeroll*

Did you take valuable PvE time off "pwning" Dreaming Dark normal to type yours? lmao

I can't believe you actually called that "content updates".

And who the hell is "we" this and that are you developing the game now?

    Nah I'm a grown up. I don't Pwn things.

No, I'm not a developer. When I say WE i'm simply grouping myself with the people who know what they are talking about, I just figure Turbine employees get the benefit of the doubt and fall into that catagory.

Dreaming Dark and MindSunder quest chains were lacking. Agreed.

However. Does this mean they should scrap content updates and work on PVP? Will that fix the problem? It will not.

What they did with Dreaming Dark and Inspired Quarter, was push out some content in an extremely fast manner. This was mainly to make up for the eight or nine month wait between mods eight and nine.

Was it the right decision? Probably not. Would a major PVP overhaul be the right decision? Probably not.

Well you're an adult playing a video game whether you pwn things or not.

And once again in the off chance they throw PvP a bone doesn't mean they stop doing everything else to do it.

But a PvP update would have been better than Mindsunder lol. Hey look lets do headcrabs and abstract art maps and call it an update. Those maps look like something an 8 year old would make on Little Big Planet.

The problem is, Everyone here knows Mindsunder wasn't very good. It was OK as best.

The other problem is we had a juvenile person spouting that "PVP is the way of the future, all else is futile"

If everyone didn't expect us to tell him to go cram it, then the forums are more dense than usual.

More importantly....If current Content updates are not enough to satisfy, does the games population feel that PVP would be better?

In my experience between three servers and many many players, the answer would be NO.

    I highly doubt it.

It is a good way for Whoamilol(whom I now have suspicions is actually Show_Me_The_Platinum..) To show that he is immature.

I am in a raid. I pull an awesome piece of loot. Someone I know wants it. I pull it. They challenge me to a match. I take a dive, they get the raid loot.

Or I pull bound to character stuff I want on another character. I take it, grab a trusted guildy, take a dive, he gets the loot. He challenges me, takes a dive, I get the loot on the character I want.

    Would that be an exploit?

Imagine the amount of support calls Turbine would have over the cheating PVP stuff. Even if there was not CHEATING the whiners would still claim it.

Schools banned pokemon/Yugioh/bakugan cards because kids were being cheated. The teachers did not want to have to be the referees for these complaint matches.

Turbine does not want to be in the same boat.

PVP is fine as it is.

Now to truly do it for me

I know that D&D was never about pvp or have anything to do with PVP in mind but in my opinion, you will be able to get a bit more players if PVP was promoted a bit more.

I dunno how many of you guys have played Never Winter Nights, but that was centered around D&D rules and I played that for a good 4 years before quitting for wow. And I can tell you now, I played a lot of PVP games and MMO games but the PVP in Never Winter Nights was BY FAR! the most fun I ever had in a game in regards to PVP. Yes I like pvp but I like PVE as well.

I know PVP brings in a lot of problems like balancing, nerfs, buffs and etc etc(I know this very well because I was one of the main development team for one of the modules in Never Winter Nights). But DDO and most D&D rule game have 1 thing that most of these MMO games don't have and that is heavy character build. How many MMO games you can name where you need to select race (with all race being different in stats, feats and etc), multi class (up to 3 different class types, you have 1000000 of different combination you can make and test), point to point stats alteration, skills, feats, enhancements, spells set, weapon set, armor set and so on. Without copying another person build who they posted online, I can say that the way I make my char is different to someone else. My char can be worse or better than someone else but how would I know if I don't fight another char in PVP (and yes skills in DDO plays a big part in this game unlike WoW)?

what I suggest is not PVP ranking, PVP rewards, Status change or anything like that. I suggest that the dev team implament 1-3 maps where it is open pvp with quest, towns, shops and etc where it is full PVP. These maps doesn't need to have items that are better than what you can normally get. The dev team can even sell them as adventure packs because I would purchase it within a heart beat. Us as players can even do something about it, we can hold our own matches, make our own rewards, set our own rules and etc.

I think either us as players or the dev team just need to promote pvp a bit. To be honest, the main reason I am on DDO is because I want that fun 6v6 PVP match which I had in Never Winter Nights, but I am enjoying the game as it is too.
