    Default Why do maps reset?

As a horrible gamer I am much more used to reading my minimap and the ingame map for my heading than noticing a certain way a landmark looks. Whether this is me being a horrible person or if it is just a different play style, that is your call. However, with all of my experience in DnD, you would think if you went to a place 914204 (slight hyperbole) times like I have to the Menechtarun Desert, you would keep a map handy.

    Thoughts? Prayers? Bashing?

If there really is a good reason, I'd just like to know.

I think that the mechanic could be cool if each toon had to uncover a map and then it stayed uncovered forever. Unfortunately the amount of data storage just on where each character has been would be counterproductive, so they clear em out every week or so it seems. I agree with you, it is annoying. Just revert the explorer area maps to the way they were.

I would also think that there would be a map notes system where you could write your own, but...

I would have figured that the information would be kept client side, that's all.

I guess the data thing works as a reason.

I have memorized my way to the 5 bloodstone chests, but the other ways I still get a little off track.

Every time I go in there's usually only 1 undead boss spawned.

There are 2 bloodstone chests. The mephit on the way to the corner and the thirsty one skele. I know you know this but many on these forums will jump all over you for any incorrect numbers on anything.

Strange. One of my guildies has pulled one out of the chest that is right next to the thirsty one, just above him.

Maybe they count as the "same chest?"

I shall just change what I said to "Wow, I reset the desert all the time and that **** mephit and the skellie are never up!"

My guess is that they currently code maps in a very memory-expensive manner. And adding a database value for every map in the game to every player could be pretty terrible.
