Default Best Critical Combos Mid levels

All the builders always focus on *when my build is level 20 and you use 8 gazillion tomes you will critical hit with a roll of a two* I'm tired of that I want to know is how to score good critical hit damage and % success in the levels where you are going to spend most of your time 8 - 16 what are the best mid range combos of items, feats and skills that give you the best results when we are talking about damage per critical hit and % chance of a critical hit. No tomes, no uber forged greensteel blessed by god himself lvl 20 weapons, and no you have to have 40 strength and 30 dex for this to be cool ****.

So to sum up What is uber critical hit combo for mid range levels in the game, not considering the end game of lvls 16 - 20, and without using items that are out of reach for a lot of players (tomes, greensteel, etc . . .)

    Thanks and Happy New Year

Basically, the best critical range from 8-16 will be rapiers, scimitars, falchions and kukris that have an 18-20 crit range, 15-20 with Improved Critical. On the other extreme, picks crit on a 20, 19-20 with Improved Critical but have a x4 multiplier. The Khopesh will still win most battles because it has a 19-20 range, 17-20 with Improved Crit, and a x3 multiplier.

For classes, Fighter Kensai adds +1 or +2 x crit multiplier to your critical hits and a +1 crit range expansion at tier III(Fighter 18). Paladins get expanded crit range and increased multipliers on Exalted Smites. Barbarian Frenzied Berzerkers get increased multipliers on 19s and 20s if they crit. Barbarians are probably best of with Heavy picks if you're going for a crit build.

Lastly, remember what gets multiplied. High strength is key. Seeker, whether on a Bloodstone or not, it important for crit damage. Bard Song also very nice to have.

As for what build using what weapon gives the most damage, that will take a lot of math, but this should cover the basic ideas and give you somewhere to start. And one final word, fortification is the bane of crit builds. If you're fighting crit immune or resistant enemies, it's nice to have build so that you can still do decent damage.

The Bloodstone is a named trinket with Seeker +6 on it. It drops in the Desert explorer area in one of 2 chests, Pulamak's or the Thirsty One's.

You can find them on the Auction House, but they're pretty popular and tend to be pretty expensive. The easiest thing if you're short on plat is to join or post Bloodstone runs. You should be able to solo those chests as well, though the mummies might be a challenge if you have a low will save and no Greater Heroism.

IIRC you only need one Seeker wep and it counts for both if TWF (like Backstabbing).

But if you are S&B or THF then extra damage (elemental etc) is usually better in the long run.

I have a Seeker +10 pick my TWF paladin uses only on auto crit mobs (Stoned, stat damaged, Held etc).
Jesus saves but only Buddha makes incremental backups.
