Default I'm having flashbacks. Here we go again.

So over the last few days of looking at the LFM's I notice a trend from the past starting up again. Look how many LFM's are up looking for combatants that omit ranger. I feel like I warped back in time almost 2.5 years.

Hmm Deleras run up LFM says need combatants yet leaves ranger out. HMM let's see most rangers have f/e undead don't they. Ok lets leave them out.

I guess the new peeps figure that that symbol for ranger means that they are going to run around with a bow.

I'm wondering how long it will take for this learning curve to work it's way thru with this set of new peeps. Anyone have a clue? I say longer than before.

I have been noticing this too on Argo, not sure what is up but is funny none the less.

My only guess is the new people don't understand the full potential of a well built ranger.

I don't group much in the early levels since F2P hit, but judging by the posts on these forums I think it's safe to say that probably half the rangers below level 6 ARE archers. This is why I could use some backup in the "archers sux" threads.

Considering how many bow built puggers I encountered in my TR run to 20, I am not surprised that people are avoiding rangers currently.

I wouldn't say half but you do see more than usual.

    Agreed wholeheartedly.

Ranger hate is back, since ppl seem to link ranger with a bow, sadly... I blame WoW.

For instance, I posted an lfm needing dps. Rogue, barb, ranger. I got 2 rangers and a rogue, and thought, "ok this is going to be a breeze," lol to my dismay, all 3 of them pulled out bows... for the entire quest...

heh, i had a true reinc drop my gwylan's hard/elite run two days ago because we didn't have a healer. the only thing i was actually concerned about getting was a rogue (halfling wizzy/rogue who did a great job by the way) for the trap XP (and the fact that we were doing tear next so that we could open the shrine).

when we started running it i saw lyrin had an lfm up for it too with a quote i might borrow - "be reasonably self-sufficient, cuz i'm drunk"

c'mon khyber, its been 2 years since the "we have to have a healer" thinking went the way of the dodo

Unfortunately most people don't know what a "well built ranger" is. they all think they are Legolas (from Lord of the rings) and most every Drow elf thinks hes Drittz for some reason.

Yeah, I got denied from a midbie group the other day running deleras because they needed DPS, I attempted to mention my build but said heck with it. Then he stated they needed a main tank. I prompty told them " A main tank? and that any group of 6 can breeze through there with no issues. Seems to me alot of either F2P or really new players dont understand rangers at all.

Needless to say I am glad I didnt go, whenever I click LFMs that deny me and state they dont need a ranger, I dont bother explaining anymore, just go somewhere else, run with guildies or create my own group.

Shroud run ... PUG looking to fill 4 spots, already have two healer-types, 2 casters, bard, and rogue ...

    So what's left? DPS, right?

Well the LFM only has barbarians, fighters and palladins. When I ask the leader why, the response is "we need some heavy DPS". I asked about the other 2 rangers already in the group, they are non-commital ... but to my utter amazement ... they are holding bows!! So I get a little worried ...

This got another dude in the group all fired up and he goes off about TWF rangers being able to kick some serious butt ... to no avail. We wait for the spots to fill ... one more ranger - ranged build of course - a fighter and a paladin.

    So, part 4 ... 3 rounds ... uggg

Part 5 ... disaster ... harry is running around like an idiot since we have no one to melee and hold him in the acid fog. Rangers are dropping like flies ... clerics are getting ****ed because noone is close enough to each other to mass heal. The bard (me) is going through heal and raise scrolls (and a few mana pots) like mad ... but we make it.

Verdict ... I LOVED IT!! This quest was so boring when we had a plan and stuck to it. You could sleep through a Shroud before DDO-EU, everyone knew what to do, and there was never a speed bump, let alone a chance for failure.

So I learned something ... rangers range, fighters fight, and wizards wiz ... the role has always been hidden in the class. I should have seen it earlier!

LONG LIVE THE PUG!! When the game gets boring, jump in that Elite Pit led by a 6 Rogue/1 Cleric ...

That's like when the shroud was still newish and we started to do elites for favor. On 1 run we all brought our gimps. Boldrin chugged 108 mana pots to finish it

    Good times

Its funny the number of players who run around without any kind of self sufficiency and expecting the cleric/FvS/Bard to keep them alive and on full health the whole quest. As far as I am concerned I am there to keep you alive while you are fighting, between fights, well, thats what pots/cupcakes/wands/regrowth cakes etc are for.

Dud that was too funny. You have the funniest post on the forums in my opinion. I'd love to sit down and have a beer with you. I think you'd have me in stitches.
