How useful is Break Enchantment in epic content? Are there many times you want to get rid of enemy Blade Barriers or Firewalls? (Does it work on cloud spells?)Level 5:
Break Enhancement: Would tell you to Wand it, but as it's Caster Level-derived, you really need to prepare it for it to be any good. Oh, and it's level 5 so you can't Wand it anyways. Prolly useful to keep around anyways; Scroll it.
I believe level 8 Firestorm has no save (according to the compendium anyway, still one level away from testing myself); so minimum 15D6 fire damage no save, no evasion. Would be useful for mobs that don't cooperate with moving through blade barrier.
I blasted through levels 4 to 9 using a combination of 16 starting charisma, seek eternal rest and a sacred item.
My cleric could literally clear undead in the Bloody Crypt faster than a firewalling wizard could on normal and hard difficulties.
At higher levels turn undead became more situationally useful as I splashed a few levels and because of the way turning works. However, undead spellcasters generally have the lowest HD and represent the greatest threat. Jumping in and removing these with one move is very useful.
Even at level 16 with 2 levels splashed in madstone crator I could turn undead giant skele's 2 at a time. Pretty handy. Though it was mostly trying to get in there before the DPS as they aren't too much of a worry anyway.
love this list and discussion...really useful to read as a cleric....adding my own five cents superior brilliance v clickies combined with devine punishment dishes out really good damage...I'm finding it really yummy atm and carry 3 clickies of sup brilliance v. works well against red named bosses in the vale for instance..outright killing most. works in a lot of level 14-18 quests I am doing atm right up to and including bosses. Might already be said here somehwhere but didn't read all posts.

Started typing up this response before I noticed someone had necroed a 2-year-old thread, but I guess I'll put my comments up anyway.
Thanks for the list, sirgog, though I have to disagree with parts, but mostly just because of changes to the game since you first wrote this 2 yeas ago.
Cometfall is a great alternative to Greater Command against mobs that have high Will saves, and against mobs with very high Spell Resistance, since Cometfall is not subject to Spell Resistance, including the knockdown portion. Also, it has decent damage, so it's in my nuking rotation for times when I want to mana-dump on a boss for maximum damage.
Immune? HP Cap? OH...someone necroed a 2-year-old thread.
Anyways, these days, Undead to Death is like Banishment: an awesome insta-kill spell in certain situations. You can take out crowds of Epic Undead with this in, say, Epic VoN5 or WizKing or something.
It comes on scrolls, so you don't need to have it loaded. Also, it's very embarassing to accidently Word of Recall yourself out of the middle of a raid, so if you do have it loaded, don't have it on a prominent place on your quick bar. :-)
Again, the game has changed. Works nicely in Epic now, too. One of your top 2 insta-kill spells.
Hmmm...was this thread before Radiant Servant? For a Cleric, just give them a Positive Energy Burst. Also comes on scrolls, which is what I do as a FvS now.
Still useful for the blinding of enemies. Some folks swear by it.
Again, game has changed. VERY useful debuff. You can kite mobs through it to give them lots of negative levels, before Imploding or something.
Yet another spell made awesome by the removal of immunities.
Implosion, the other one of your 2 best insta-kill spells. My favorite spell in the game. Wail of the Banshee has NOTHING on this. Works on Constructs, works on Undead. Moves with you. Can give you a 2nd try on a mob even if he rolls a 20 the first time.
With a bit of work, it's not that hard to get your DC sustainably to the high 30s, where it works quite nicely. With lots more work and luck on loot, you could get up to the mid-40s. Heck, in theory, you could temporarily pump it up to 52. See

for how.
Was that a Raise Dead or a Ressurection spell?
If you are using instant kill spells (slay living, destruction, implosion), the "bestow curse" spell is really powerful. It will be your best debuff spell until you get Energy drain. "Bestow curse, slay living" will kill anything you face while leveling, and most of the epic mobs.
Use it to outkill the pale masters on house C quests. Most of them can't fit this gem in their spell list, and it works wonders against warforged.

great comments thanks..didn't have undeath to death loaded at all..but have it now and will be giving it a whirl....have used symbols combined with bb..softens them up nicely though it takes careful aiming and kiting and it's amazing how many pug groups don't kite...through a bb...
I'm also loading bestow curse to see how it works on higher mobs...this is my first time levelling to twenty so every quest at a different level with new bosses to grapple with...
