im not sure if this is a known issue, but heres how the bug occurs...


i have a dex monk, with 20 str (well, will have, currently 19)

i have full wind and ocean stances

if for some reason, you forget to put str item back on before attempting to go into ocean stance, you will bug out due to not having the prereqs to perform this action, and lose your wisdom bonus to ac, only fix is to log in/log out

Are you are sure this isn't an issue with becoming uncentered due to encumbrance?

I've never had any issue going into / out of any of the stances. Is there something else that you're carrying around / trying to do that REQUIRES a higher STR? Ocean stance will subtract from your STR and add to WIS. It almost sounds like you're carrying something too heavy and losing centered bonus when activating Ocean.

If that's the case, that's how it's supposed to be. You'll lose your centered bonus to AC (and etc) while carrying more weight than lightly encumbered.

That being said, if logging out and logging back in fixes it, that's a little odd. Never had the issue but I tend to not carry much and STR is a little higher.

im not debating that encumberance is causing the issue, thats not in doubt, the bug, is then when you fix your gear, no matter what, youve lost the wisdom bonus to ac, and have to log in/out to fix it

That's really strange. If I get time in the next day or two, I'll see if I can't reproduce it. I don't recall ever being encumbered, so I'm not sure.

When looking at your AC, are you just checking the number that's showing up in the AC spot on the char sheet? If so, that's a known UI bug. It doesn't auto-update for some reason. If you check the breakout, though, it's there. This has happened to me numerous times (took me 15min of checking why my AC calcs were off). It's supposed to be the correct AC even though the front page isn't right.

OTOH, if you're using a STR item (clickie or perm), the game just doesn't take that into account. I'm interested.

yeah, its displayed as not having a wisdom bonus, as in not listed in the ac list, and of course, getting my arse handed to me kinda tipped me off lol, to reproduce, your strength needs to lower then the reqs for using 4th tier ocean stance, click on the stance, (it wont work), your wis bonus disappears, and you have to log to get it to return

I've found the same problem. *Sometimes* resting at a shrine will help (or at least it seems to). But not always. Very frustrating.

It's gotten to the point I won't pick up armor or shields out of chests because of the significant chance that they'll screw up my AC. Also, full stacks of potions, scrolls and dragon shards all weigh 10 pounds each. It's surprising how quickly it all adds up

This is probably why people are confused about the viability of the monk wisdom bonus on a low-str character.

Randomly I lose my Wis bonus entirely... I am still centered - my ac just shows about 7 less w/ no wis bonus at all.

I can switch stances - empty my inventory... etc... but no change

and like the last poster states SOMETIMES logging off fixes the problem.

this really needs some attention...

Yeah, once you have a strength problem that kills your Wisdom bonus, it never comes back until you
a) Log
b) Complete a quest

I've learning to switch to Sun stance before looting the final chest(s), and avoiding shields and armor before that point.
