how bad will i be?

hey im developing my tempest ranger and i would want to know how bad will I be in ranged combat cuz i knda hoped to be able to fight with ranged weapons a bit so well ib able to do that or will i totally suck?

p.s my starting stats are

str 16
dex 16
con 12
int 8
wis 14
cha 8

im an elf and im intending to be a pure ranger and take the capstone + ranged attack&damage 1 cuz icouldn't fit in tiers 2

What do you meanbad at ranged combat? Poor damage? Low to-hit?

The thing about ranged combat is...compared to melée it sucks.
Low rat of fire, missed shots, mystery arrows, kiting etc. Ranged is only good situationally.

And I believe you may want to look into the capstone + haste issue, I hear they don't stack. I may be wrong, so check it out for yourself.

Roll up a tempest ranger. You still get enough free bow feats to be a ranged ranger and, when the situation calls for it, you will still be able to meleee.

ok thanks im not planing to be 100% of the time ranged but u know when soloing or when i need to take down a far castr so how much in terms of dps will i be lacking from AA or DS?

Get a good set of bows and you will consistently be the best archer in your party as a melee-focused ranger. Only Sorcerers will out-dps you at single target ranged damage in almost all groups you see. Even melee-focused rangers get all the key bow feats for free and after that gear seems to make the second biggest difference.

I'm only a level 9 ranger, with my +4 composite shortbow, I do fine with many shot or no many shot in normal/solo mode. I can take out 1-2 giants pretty easy with many shot before they get me, use sprint boost keep shooting, if they get to close or many shoot goes away I just switch out to melee. and I'm buying a better bow so ranging will not be a problem with +4 shocking burst bow
