Default Imp Critical Feat, Mineral 2 Wep and Raging, a question

    Hi there,

I've been following a build on these forums (Shades) and am well into my barb. He is lvl 14 atm, and is enjoying a crit on his greataxe at 19 - 20 due to his feat, imp critical, slashing.

However, the Mineral 2 weapon i'm looking to build will be keen. So will that, in effect, mean my feat was wasted?

Also, while raging, due to frenzy, do i do an extra multiplyer of damage on a 19 - 20 because of my feat? Or would it do it's extra multiplyer on a 19 - 20 even without my improved crit: slashing feat?

If so, is that another reason not to take the feat?

    All the best,

    Ginetti

I'm not sure if this answers all your question:

Improved critical expands the critical range (not the multiplier) of your weapons. It is true that while wielding a Min2 you would gain no benefit from it. So you need to decide if its benefit when wielding your other weapons means it is worth a feat.

You should defeintely be using more weapons then just the mineral2. It is a great weapon for pit fiends and horned devils, but for everything else in the game it is not ideal.

A simple triple pos will do much more damage on other common devil enemies like orthons bearded devils and bezikiras, and cost you much less ingredients. But you need inmproved crit for it.

Or even a commonly available +5 greater bane vs any target with no DR does more dmg then the min2.

More ideally a lightning strike tends to be the highest dps for anything with no dr or DR/good.

Re: Improved Crit multiplier only on 19-20 anyways?
    No.
The limitation that says it can only work on 19-20s does not mean it will always work on 19-20s.. They still have to be confirmed criticals, and non-keen greataxes won't critical on a 19 without IC: Slash.

If you are looking for a very cheap solution to all your dps make a mineral 2 maul. That would be decent versus virtually all mobs and bosses. Now as Shade points out it is not the best on many of the bosses and mobs out there it is more of an adequate weapon that goes through most every critters dr. It depends on how invested you are in that character and how much you play.

    Aren't falchions better than greataxes?

Make a falchion (unless you are a dwarf)

yes, i am a dwarf, but besides, falchions are 2d6, while my ga is 3d6, so isnt it better in the long run?

my frenzy crit will only work on a 19 to 20 no matter how much bitter the crit range is, as far as I am aware.
