Default Barbarian, fighter, or ranger splash?

Because the rogue capstone doesn't seem very good, I'm considering picking up 1-2 levels of fighter, barbarian, or ranger. Is this a sound choice for a rogue? Would you stick with rogue19 for the sneak attack bonus and extra rogue feat (probably slippery mind), or would you go ahead and splash 2 levels? And do barbarian and ranger have anything to offer that's better than the fighter bonus feats?

1 Barb lvl for fast movement, sprint boost, martial weapons and 1 rage.

I wouldn't go Rogue19/Ranger1. If you're going to splash Ranger, you should go Rogue18/Ranger2 for TWF and Rapid Shot.

If you want 19 rogue levels, Fighter and Barbarian are both good choices. Rogue18/Fighter2 has a nice feat advantage that would make up for the loss of 1d6 sneak attack damage.

If you have a clear plan as to why you want the extra feats and what you'll do with them, go fighter. If you are just multiclassing to multiclass, then I'd go barbarian.

    Yeah, capstone Rogue = meh..

If you are dex focussed then also consider a level or 2 of Monk as well.
Gives you an extra feat, add's stances (in particular wind stance)
adds your wisdom bonus to your ac if not wearing armor.

Initially I went 19 rogue / 1 fighter for weapon proficiencies, a feat, and 14hp.

I true reincarnated the character a few days ago and decided to replace the fighter level with a barbarian level for faster movement speed, 2 more HP, and a rage. I didn't need the extra fighter feat.

I'm opting for a TWF strength build and could use faster movement speed, more feats, and access to martial weapons. Obviously the martial-weapon part would be granted with any of these splashes, but there are compromises involved with any of the possible splashes, with fighter > ranger > barb for feats but barb > ranger > fighter for speed. Hit points would be a secondary concern, I suppose, and I could get those with barbarian or fighter but not with ranger.

The other aspect of this is whether it's worth splashing 2 levels rather than one. Most of the benefits I'd want from barb would come at 1st level, so I'd shy away from barb if I knew I wanted a 2-level splash. On the other hand I don't see splashing ranger as viable unless it includes TWF as part of the deal, so I'd shy away from ranger if I could be convinced that the 19th level of rogue is worth losing. But with an extra die of sneak attack damage plus a bonus rogue ability, it seems like rogue may be one of the few classes where a 1-level splash makes sense...

If you're going Assassin, the extra movement speed from barbarian will be nice when zerg-assassinating.

So if I understand everyone correctly, a one-level splash of either barbarian or fighter would be useful enough to justify ditching the capstone. Thanks for the advice, everyone.

I'm still curious as to whether people see the 19th rogue level as worth keeping, though. The extra die of sneak attack damage and the extra rogue ability seem decent enough that I'm inclined to make only a one-level splash on this character, rather than doing the full two that I had originally planned...
