I found Power Attack to be a huge contributer in DPS even more so for weapon finesse builds because they can easily afford the attack penalty and the +5 bonus on both hands is like adding 10 pts of overall str.

You took dodge, which grants you +1 to AC and is the first feat needed to get spring attack. I dont think the loss of spring attack and 1 pt of AC will hurt your build so the question I ask is...............

Have you thought about switching the feat out or is there a special reason you have gone this route?

as an alternative you could always drop spring attack, keep dodge and still have power attack.

The -4 penalty to hit while moving is not a big deal, that said I have it on my fighter but he has 15 feats to choose.

    Your monk seems very balanced.

Would this Power Attack Option still work at the low levels? Or is better to swap out Spring Attaack at the higher levels?

you can toggle power attack if you find your self missing a lot against any particular monster.

in the end i swapped it for stunning fist instead of spring attack. weighted 5 are my goto means for stunning as they proc often and i use ki more for TOD than stun. i use spring attack often as i move alot, running through mob groups to tag all with improved destruction/cursespewing etc, to up group dps.

the only time i ever shut off power attack is in epic until i tag things with improved destruction. on my new monk i'm leveling up i am 12 and still haven't picked up power attack, and haven't needed it yet, but i will very soon as i want it for the vale.

my new monk is a light path version of the same. i prefer dark VASTLY, maybe the new prestiges will change that but unlikely. dark just levels fast and fun. fortunately my light is just a 34 pt stepping stone to a 36 pt FvS.

and if you aren't a regular monk player, like bards, 7 is where they start to get way fun. i really think monk ki and finishers made me a much better player of my pali.

Right now my Monk, is level 4 (Veteran Status) I built him as per the OP Build. Should I just pay for the Feat Swaps now to get Power Attack instead of Dodge and Mobility and Spring Attack (PLat and DO Free Feat Swaps are not a problem.

If your monk is level 4 from being vet status, just delete and reroll him since you'll start at level 4 anyway.

If you haven't done much advernturing or invested consumables like tomes, why not just re-roll?

Changing three feats will take several days... ReRolling is free and instant...

In any case, you don't want to use your free feat exchange at low levels. You will want it for high levels when the feat exchange is a lot more expensive.

i still have spring attack and hence dodge and mobility. i would keep and later switch a feat to PA when mob hp starts to reach the inflated level. i didnt pick it up til 20, but in retro i should have at 15 when stunning fist stops being effective.

My first monk I took spring attack, but quickly swapped it out. The problem with Spring Attack is that while it does decrease your penalty to hit after a move, you still move so you break your attack chain and lose the best attacks in your chain.

On the flip side, my monks are using power attack from level 6 or so on, probably 80% of the time. If you have a high str or a high dex+weapon finessed then you can use PA against a lot of MOBs.

i agree with that use. its my playstyle. i jump and debuff everything. then go back for the dps. nothing irks me more than throwing 30 ki out for a stike (or more total for a finisher) and missing the strike because of power attack though. i turn mine on and off quite a bit depending on what im running, and more importantly, with whom. toons that arent twinked get me doing a lot more debuffing to support the group.

Because I have some bound ot character items I do not want to loose. Created a Character, and never logged him in, when he received some Anniversary items, that are bound to character. Too good to just through away. Or maybe its too hard because I'm a pack rat, I don't know.
