    Cool Rogue 13 / Fighter 7 - Ideas?

    Hi There,

    Here is the build I'm currently playing. It is current on level 7, been fun so far, but want to check if it will be viable later in the game. Will I be able to join / be accepted in raids and survive well enough? Will I be able to do end game content?


    I always play duo with my wife (she is a pure cleric), what usually happens is:

    - Cleric goes first
    - I go later and sneak / kill everyone

    On tough mobs (the red title guys), I use displacement and she keeps attacking and healing me. She also takes care of stuff like paralysis, blindness, sickness, etc

    dont go 7 fighterlvls, the 7th level gives you nothing usefull
    would be better to go ranger for the last level, then you get +3dmg against evil outsiders (as you take them as fav enemy) and sprintboost which is also nice to have
    a monk level would even be better to get some ac but your wisdom sucks so that doesnt really go well
    a barb level would be ok too for a 1:30 rage (or howlong that lasts)

    Add a monk level and take power attack, 7th fighter level adds nothing special

    No need for a caster level as you have high UMD.

    Pal 1 has nothing that good beside healing wands (and you got UMD...)...cant take Barbarian due to alignment, and ranger 1 is only nice for using bows..and bows suck without all the other feats.

    Question I'm no expert...

    I'm intrigued by all the skill points going into haggle, which I read on here as being pretty useless. I would have thought a better choice for a rogue would be diplomacy... get those mobs looking for other targets.

    Also, are you really planning on taking all your enhancements when you reach lvl 20 or was that just a way of keeping it all together?

    A Rogue 13/ Ranger 6/ Fighter 1 would have been much stronger. The Ranger levels allow you to have higher skill points and with Tempest you would get a 10% bonus to attack speed. You would also get some wand use from your first Ranger level.

    The 7th Fighter level gives you nothing. Rogue 14 doesn't give you much, but at least you get more skill points. I'm also puzzled to see that you took 6 levels of Fighter, but didn't take Kensai, the only reason to take Fighter past level 4 on a build like this. Don't forget the Rogue PreE either. I also don't see Improved Critical: Piercing. That's a big feat with a rapier. Haggle is a good skill, but a Rogue can seldom use it as well as a Bard. And with 7 levels of Fighter, it wll probably be tough just keeping DD, OL, Search, Spot and UMD maxed.

    One last piece of advice, don't take a Fighter level as your last level. In fact, I probably wouldn't take a Fighter level past 18. 20th level is your last chance to spend skill points and even if you have all important skills maxed at 19, you won't have enough skill points to max them with the 4 points you get as a Fighter with 14 Int, especially since they'll cost double. So with a 14 Int, you can pick 2 skill to max.

    I would strongly suggest you reconsider taking the seven levels of fighter as others suggested. That last level of fighter gets you nothing additional, I would choose either ranger for the favored enemy bonuses (early levels undead, then can change to giants then later evil outsiders for end game). Other classes as suggested to consider would be monk (for feat, as you dont have enough wisdom to get enough bonus to your ac), or barbarian for the rage and sprint bonuses (might be too late if you have already picked a non-compatible alignment).

    Also, for your enhancements, why choose assassin? I dont see much to it (assassin II), unless you go all the way with rogue levels to take the third tier of it. Might be better off with your style of duoplay with your wife to get thief acrobat.

    Also echoing another posters comments, you really need improved critical piercing, might want to drop iron will or the lesser dragonmark for that.
