Aye, I remember bringing up several toons in Gianthold, it's a nice change of pace I think to be out in the Desert instead, and saving Gianthold and the Orchard until later. If you can do Gianthold from levels 12-15 or so, you can use the Vale for levels 14-17, then Amrath, Reaver's Refuge, and Inspired Quarter for 17-20. You can run Necro IV concurrently with GH and Vale as well if the Abbot is important to you.

The changes they made to how we get XP, combined with the level cap increase, kinda made people restructure their leveling habits a bit. It's now better to farm quests like Wizard King and VoNs to get through the 8-12 hump, that's how I did it on my FvS recently and the levels just flew by.

First-person experience tells me so. Perhaps 2 days was a bit of an exaggeration, but grinding Gianthold with guildies for a few days was always good for at least 3 levels.

When the game was relaunched Turbine started enforcing min levels for quests areas. Gianthold is 10 the Vale is 12 so on and so forth. This is more then likely to keep Premium/F2p people from buying a few packs jumping into Gianthold at level 8 when free content starts to dry up. Then leveling high enough for the Vale, then capping.
there's one thing you never put in a trap if you're smart. If you value your continued existence. If you have any plans on seeing tomorrow then there's one thing you never, ever put in a trap.

Well, really the chains are just as good... the appeal back then was how much xp those particular quests gave... they are considerably less now. Also as cat stated you could fly thru a number of appropriate level quests quicker adding up to much more.
