Default Windows 7 and Character Screen

    Hey -

I'm running Windows 7 64-bit Ultimate on a desktop I have; it's a computer I just put together, so I wouldn't suspect it to have viruses or anything similar, before that question is popped.

I can log into DDO just fine - I get past the Turbine screen without a hitch.

But when I hit the character select screen, I get to sit there for a while and wait, or something, while it tells me that I need to 'Wait while the download finishes'.

I'm not sure what download it's talking about, since whenever I alt tab - which makes its own problem - there's no popup from Turbine, and when I clicked the icon on the taskbar, it didn't give me anything either.
I already clicked the 'unblock' on home and public computers option, so I wouldn't think that would be a problem either - but there's no crash, there's no major malfunction...sort of.

I tried running DDO in windows XP SP3 compatibility, but that didn't do anything either. This is the first computer I've ever run with Windows 7, so I'm rather out of ideas - if anyone's got something for me to try that's not just to give up because 'DDO won't work on Windows 7', I'd be pretty willing to give it a shot.

Thanks so much in advance guys!

This question has been asked a few times. It works fine on windows 7 for me, and for a lot of other people.

Make sure you reboot after installing, since in some cases the windows firewall will just block it without asking until after rebooting.

Windows firewall was auto-disabled upon installing AVG - unless you mean the firewall that I've got going right now, but as I mentioned, I'm using the same firewall on my laptop, which doesn't have this issue at all.

Computer has been rebooted, but I'll give it a shot after turning the firewall off completely.
