    Default DDO Warlock design

    Heres what I managed to come up with for a DDO warlock class other then the incomplete spell list that im still working on I would like to get some thoughs on the idea from the community and the devs if possible.

    spell dc = 10+(cha mod)+ 1/2 caster lvl (note:Spell lvl doesn't matter for a warlock the lvl of the spell they cast equals 1/2 caster lvl damage and duration however is scaled according to full caster lvl.

    Maximize Invocation(meta magic) requires: (ability to cast lvl 2 invocations) Increase the damage of all invocations by 50% but increase the cooldown by 50% stacks with Empower Invocation
    Quicken Invocation (meta magic) requires: (ability to cast lvl 3 invocations) cuts the cooldown time on all invocations by 50%.

    Ways to implement Shapes and Essences.

    Shapes could be used just like a normal spell, target, click, wait on cooldown. The essences are the issue though I might of solved that problem what if you made the Essences a toggle like poweratk and combat expertise, but put them on the spell list instead of the feat window, the functions in the code that turns off poweratk if you swap to combat expertise could be used to swap off Essences allowing you to use them like a meta magic for the shapes click another to swap to a another essence while that would turn off the other preventing multiple essences from being up at once.

    What about Infernal Pact Warlocks? I'm fairly sure their abilities are based on CON, not CHA.

    Perhaps at level 1, you get a bonus feat which is your pact and determines which stat. Would also allow certain other bonuses (and extra pact feats along the way, like an Infernal pact one gaining some Temp HP for a few seconds if she kills a mob with an Eldritch Blast).




    Though the biggest issue is... With a 3 second cooldown time, Eldritch blast seems a little gimp. Especially when I could drop a 15d6 Blade Barrier that affects everything, instead of a 9d6 blast that's single-target.

    You did list a way to increase the damage on Blasts (Maximize, Extend), but with a 4.5 second cooldown, I fear it wouldn't really be used very much.


    The main obstacle to making the Warlock a class is how gimped Ranged combat is for the most part.

    You seem to have confused DDO for something based on 4e.

    The reason for the cooldown is it doesnt effect the blast shapes they would each have there own cooldown so you could have blast, spear, chain, cone, and doom all on individual cooldowns plus it casts for free warlocks have unlimited power pools effectively meaning you can spam all your shapes as much as you possibly want maximized and empowered only way to effectively keep it from being extremely OP is to effect the cooldown times hence the design of the meta magics, warlocks also have more then blast shapes and essences remember they get invocations as well such as the 1/2 holy damage firewall spell and the chilling evards black tendrils just think how powerful that would be if you could cast those limitlessly at the same damage and cooldown as a sorc.

    PS:Also this DDO is based off 3.5 D&D not 4th so pact sets don't have a effect but that is a good option for prestige enhancements at some point.
