Unable to see party members

I've been having trouble seeing my friends that I play with online. I can see that they are members of the guild, can invite them to party, chat with them, see them online in the social panel, but I can't actually see their characters in the game. We are playing on the same server, in korthos village, standing next to the same thing but can't see each other. I sometimes have problems seeing my g/f who plays online with me at our house and sometimes we each have to log off and on to be able to see each other.

Anyone have a clue what is causing this?

You're not in the same instance.

You can change instances on the Minimap, there should be an arrow next to where it says your location, click on the arrow and it'll have a list of numbered instances. Just make sure you and your friends are in the same number.
