Default Game Will Freeze for a bit then work then freeze.

Well I have always wanted to play DDO online. From the 1st day I downloaded it I haven't really been able to play it at all. From the 1st moment my char step towards the rogue on the 1st island thing my computer screen would freeze, like my char and everything on screen is frozen in place but my sound still works just fine. I can hear the rogue speaking about things but can't move or interact with anything. Then about 30-40 secs later I can move again. Then after a bit it will do the same thing again my screen everything on it will freeze but sound will still be going. Now I thought this would be a video card thing so I updated all my drivers and bla bla nothing. I tried disabling directx 10 nothing I have looked all over the Internet and still found nothing. I posted on other tech forms and it was no help at all. So i turn to the ddo community maybe one of you can help me find the answer to my problem. The weird thing is I can play world of warcraft fine with no problems but just about any other game I try and play on this computer will do the freeze thing I described above. The other games I have tried to play and had the freeze thing happen are Civ 4, Command and Conquer Generals, C&C Red Alert 3, Warcraft 3, Warhammer soulstorm only, the other warhammer games like the darkcrusade works just fine. I havent a clue what this could be. I thought maybe my graphics card just sucked but wow's minimum requirements are higher then most of the games I said there and I meet all of wow's recommended. So this is where I currently am I have tried just about everything I can think of and nothing has helped. Here is my computer info at the bottom plz help if you can I am game to try just about anything to get this problem fixed.

I think you'll find that WoWs minimum system requirements are lower than most games.

    WoW Minimum System Requirements
Processor: Intel Pentium 4 1.3 GHz or AMD Athlon XP 1500+
    Memory: 512 MB RAM
Video: 3D graphics processor with Hardware Transform and Lighting with 32 MB VRAM Such as an ATI Radeon 7200 or NVIDIA GeForce 2 class card or better

    DDO Minimum System Requirements
Processor: P4 1.6 GHz or AMD equivalent with SSE
    Memory: 512 MB RAM
Video: 64 MB Hardware T&L -compatible video card

With that being the case, disable DirectX 10, and turn all of your video settings down to Very Low, and see if you are still experiencing issues. If you are, try changing your sound settings to use hardware or software, certain sound cards have been known to cause the game to freeze occasionally.

Here are the recommended requirements for DDO.

    Recommended System Requirements
Processor: P4 3.0GHz or AMD equivalent with SSE
    Memory: 1GB RAM
Graphics Card: GeForce FX or better with 128MB of memory
Network Connection: Cable Modem or DSL connection
    Software: Windows XP, DirectX 9
Disc Space: 3GB 5GB for high resolution

Make sure you have the latest video card and sound drivers.

Try, if you haven't already, to set all graphics besides resolution to as low as possible. If that fixes it then you can begin to turn on features until you find the culprit (has worked for some people in the past having issues with 'Environmental Stencil Shadows').

Yeah its been freezing on the very low graphics setting. I updated the cards last night and still messed up. I am almost at the point of just not playing. I mean its annoying as hell to play for 10 secs and freeze for 40 then again and again. Anyone else have any ideas of what I can try.

I had a similar problem some time ago. Try resetting your modem and then playing. Fixed my problem.
A friend will bail you out of jail.
A mate will be sitting in there beside you saying "**** that was awsome!!!"
