Group vote to boot

This has probably been suggested, but after a string of PUG's with people that just zoned in and stood there while we did the quest, I felt the need to say SOMETHING.

I know that you do not want to have one person with the ability to just boot someone out. How about the group doing it though?

I feel that this would help address the issue of people piking their way through the levels, along with other issues. I've had someone say they had to go while running Tangleroot, exit the quest when we were done, but stay in the explorer area. This prevented us from removing him from the group and inviting someone else to complete the quest series. I know all we had to do was go out into the tavern and disband, but honestly... sometimes it is difficult enough to get a group of people to just GET to the quest without explaining we now have to all recall, reform and go back out.

Maybe to help prevent abuse, the vote would have to either be a majority, or minimum 4 people. Once the vote passes, there could be a timer for the person to be removed. This would help prevent griefing I would imagine.


I'm sure this has been suggested somewhere, I just didn't have the time to search through and bump the thread, so here's someone else saying, Give us an option to boot! Why should these people be rewarded for our work?

Suggested many times. Many, many times. USA, EU, everywhere. Probably on day 1. Or maybe on day 1 it was possible to boot, but was then removed.

It's a 'ticky' subject. Can be used for griefing. And if it can, it will, standard MMO rule. Forums flames if you can boot, forums flames if you can't.

If i'd be a dev, i'd just ignore this problem. You can't win whatever you do.

The group leader being able to boot in quest was not commonly misused. This would be even safer.

People can whimsically put a boot suggestion up and others will just follow because of peer pressure.

If you really need to boot recall and reform.

We used to be able to boot folks from the party. It was abused, it was removed. There are times when I would LOVE to be able to boot someone, not just from party but from the game. But it is not worth the potential for griefing.

Even after the experience I had with the vons with the caster who piked as a ghost I still wouldnt want this option. Not because it doesnt have benefits. But because human nature even my own tells me that in a moment of over emotional irrationality that I may use it to boot someone who just aggravate me. And im sure others probably wouldnt admit as much but in the wrong hands something like this even used as a vote could cause problems this game doesnt need.

Come on lets face it dont we get enough threads during the day about group woes? Dont we hear about raid loot ninjas and sure pikers are annoying but its far easier to remember them and make sure their names get about so they dont do it much anymore then to worry about booting them.

As much as I cant stand those who dont contribute to the party Id see something like this more used for other people who may not even deserve the booting. Theres no fail safe to it if your the 5 or 6th person in a group of jerks either. So dont think I can sign on this even if its something that could be useful just bad in the wrong hands.

Wait a Second.. VOns is 4-6 Separate Quests.

Why would you let someone Pike through all of em? THeres plenty of time to boot between chapters.

I didnt mean the whole series just was to lazy to put part 3 lol no they didnt last long after that horrible run and did not act that way during the first two parts or they would not have made it to 3 with me. Its funny though how some people will get when they die by doing something stupid and will stay as a ghost by the shrine instead of raising and playing carefully. Ahh well I just made another "friend" to the list and moved on.

Doesnt help. If someone wants to ghost Pike, they can stay "ACtive" and never get DC'd.

While Dead, if your stone is within the range of a Shrine for more than 5 minutes you get Auto released back to your Bind point. (Within the area where you can swap Spells if your a Cleric or Wizard)

Wouldnt help with Living Pikers.... But definitly reasonable for the Ghost Pikers.

that definitely would have been good in the situation I found myself in. And the person definitely was around because after being called on their behavior told us point blank "im a guild leader I dont care about your group invites.."

Im thinking they just dont play I havent seen them on since the incident and I let it be known before I got into a bit of trouble about it the attitude period. I dont think its fair to a party to have someone with that kinda attitude running about and was shocked by it.

In that scenario though I can honestly understand the want to be able to boot someone but as you even suggested they could be reported and I added that person to my list of never again will I willingly group with them. They may get lucky create a whole new persona but that character there will never be invited into a group I form again.

This cannot work.Once you have been playing a while,you will not only get much better to avoid these situations but you will also (hopefully) have made a few friends and or guild to run with.Problem solved without changing anything for anyone else.
