It depends on what you are fighting. In general I agree that once you get to level 10 you atend to be in areas where mod fortification or higher gains the advantage over invulnerability.

I personally use the robe as a clicky. Even at level 19, I still occassionally use the invulnerability when fighting a mob that doesn't do a lot of damage per hit. But I carry and click to DeathBlock of Greater XXXX Resistance all the time. One of the advantages of robes is that they can change quickly.

You can replace the Deathblock robe with the Silver Flame Talisman. You get the base item from an NPC in the Necropolis (his name fails me atm, someone help me out here ), and upgrade it in the Bloody, Shadow, and Cursed Crypts (or just in the Cursed Crypt 3 times, occasionally there will be LFMs for Cursed Crypt loot runs, join those for trinket upgrades too). It'll also absorb up to 10 negative levels, a must have item for fighting end-game beholders.

If I get the silver flame pendant, does that eliminate the need for the visor of the flesh render guards (the splinterskull deathward clicky)

Not exactly. I mean it will absorb some negative levels, but only 10. I've definitely been hit with more than that before. Better to have deathward and not have to worry at all. Now for beholders who will strip that deathward off the silver flame pendant is, of course, awesome.

It should be noted that Deathward also blocks inflict wounds and harm, which can be quite nasty at higher levels when cast upon u.

Also if u know ur going to be fighting a beholder soon and the quest/area is full of a bunch of casters, keep that Silver Flame Amulet off until u get to the beholder, lest u will get to it and have no charges left on it as it absorbs any kind of negative energy spell not just negative levels.

Some great info here guys, thx a bunch!
Regarding the Silver Flame Trinket, I have a very noob question to ask.
I did Blood Crypt 2 times already with friends, however, I ended up with some scarabs, an item that looks like a collectable (like a page of a book or something, I can’t recall), but my silver flame trinket is gone.
I used the Blood Crypt altar and got a message as the trinket was handed to me, but nothing…
I tried to ask the NPC another one but he says I still have it.
I guess it is probably there in my inventory, but I can’t find it. Does it change to another item or something? Do I need to go somewhere to get it back?
Sorry for that guys, I’m feeling a little bit stupid for asking this.

If you can have DR you should have DR. When you are outgrowing your Invuln robe you should be looking for an eerie trinket which gives you Undead Guard and DR5/evil. It can be made from scarabs from the eerie quests. The eerie quests are pains, but worth it at those lvls.

    lvl 1-9ish Invuln
lvl 9+ Heavy Fort (minos) + DR5/evil (eerie)

There are other better trinkets, like the bloodstone, but they do not fall from trees.

As for your silver flame trinket, it turned into a necklace.

After you upgrade the trinket at an altar, it changes into a necklace. might not have spotted it in it's new incarnation
