Question Hi I'm new to DOD! How do I create a Guild?

    Hi fellow players,
I was wondering how I go about starting my own guild. I searched the forums & other sites with no exact information. I know many of the players here are well experienced. So although this is probably a newbie question, I would really appreciate any info on this being shared with me. Even from the most basic to the most complicated questions.
    Thanking everyone in advance

*oops I meant DDO not DOD in my title, super sorry!*

There are two answers to this. The first is the logistical one: Open the icon that looks like a head on the toolbar, select the guild tab, type your new guild name in, then... :::POOF::: you are now a guild leader of a new guild.

The second part is more subjective - what type of guild do you want to run? Who are you looking to recruit, what are your goals, standards (age requirements? times playing? etc).

You may also want to consider a 'home' for your guild away from DDO - perhaps a GuildPortal site. More information on options is here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guild_hosting

You will find that guilds in DDO are right now a common chat channel and tag under your name, but that may change in the future to something more solidified - the user base has been pushing for more guild features (shared bank, guild housing, etc) for some time.

    Good luck!

I should also add this in case you *aren't* a VIP.

If you are F2P (meaning you don't pay any money to play the game) you have to buy a guild charter from the DDO store for 150 Turbine Points. Can't remember where exactly in the store this is, but just snoop around for a few minutes and you stumble across it.

Once you've bought it, there will be an item in your inventory called a "Guild Charter" that you have to double-click to use. It'll consume the item, and tell you that you may now form a guild. THEN you can go ahead and do what tbrazile said. :P

    Question

Ah so VIP users can create a Guild directly and for free without the Charter?

If that is the case if you take VIP create the Guild and then go to premium what happens to the status of the Guild?

If you go VIP and create a guild, downgrading your subscription doesn't effect anything. They already got their $15 outta you so it's all yours.
