I always seem to pull scales and never stones. I have gotten 2 to 1 and 3 to 1 exchnages in the past. Last exchange I did was 2 scales for 6 stones and an arrowhead (hey, I needed an arrowhead too...).

Generally, it's 2 stones for 1 scale. Some may be more generous and give you 3 stones.
