"Your character is still being saved."

I have come across a MAJOR bug which has my really irritated. I am unable to load up my character because I receive the message "Your character is still being saved.". This issue has been going on for over 24 hours and I have restarted my computer in that time period yes. I have contacted in game support but got nowhere through 2 tickets and am very unhappy.

ME: I can't load into one of my characters on the Kyber server. I receive the message "Your character is still being saved." I have tried restarting and relogging several times but nothing. My character on this server is named Effant

THEM: Greetings Mrgosh, you should now be able to log into that character. If there is anything else we can assist you with please let us know.

No this did not fix anything.

ME: I am unable to load into one of my characters on Kyber, Effant. I submitted a ticket earlier and it was answered and closed saying the issue was fixed but it is not yet fixed. I have tried loading the character with the same "Your character is still being saved.". Thank you for your help

THEM: Your report indicates a known issue. This issue is being investigated by our development team. Unfortunately the In-Game Support team does not have any additional information about this issue and cannot provide you with a resolution at this time. Any new information about known issues can be found on http://www.ddo.com/forums. Checking the forums frequently will keep you up to date with official information and announcements about the game.

Done! Wait hold on a minute I've been now told to wait roughly 2 weeks for a response, not fix, response....WHAAAAA

I told you folks I was leaving the game a month ago but was convinced to stay by friends but now...now what the hell will make putting up with this BUG OF ALL BUGS make worth staying esp if it happens to my other toons...

I wish I could help you more! I get alot of sorry nothing we can do messages when i have problems too and it drives me nuts! How can you have all the control over a game and All these people working in a company that doesnt aid its customers? If i cant play i wouldnt pay thats for sure! Now Gosh you know i dont mean we want you to quit but i more then definately understand your frustration and annoyance with the REpeat offense from ddo

The last time I saw that bug was back in 2006. Back then it was caused by hitting alt+F4 instead of logging out when stuck on a loading screen. The recommended method was to hit enter, and type /logout, which would log you out even though you couldn't see the chat box.

I can't remember what they did to fix the characters, but it had to be done on their end.

Alternative fix, even if u have not created another character on Khyber, roll one up, log into it, log out then try loggging onto ur original character that was stuck still being saved....this has worked for me in the past.


If u already have another character made u don't need to roll a new one just log into one that is not stuck being saved then log out and switch to the one that is.

Thanks vVAnjilaVv but yes I have several characters on Kyber and this unfortunately doesn't solve it. I did more research and as Cedwin states it was a huge problem in 2006 but was fixed...*ahem*....

One day as Eff was logging out, Effant, as all player controlled characters do, was standing patiently, waiting to vanish from the world. Then suddenly, just as Eff was closing down his game from the shadows emerged the turbine beholder! Spewing bug ridden beams of poor collision detection from it's many eyes it quickly incapacitated the unwary character and dragged him in to the shadows, leaving behind only a note reading:

Dear In game support technicians.

I, the turbine beholder, have again kidnapped a player character in the hopes of destroying my own market base and alienating any new subscribers (I'm chaotically evil aligned, it's what I do.). If you want him back you will have to embark on a long and arduous quest through the mountains and valleys of Eberron in search of 3 rare items. Only by finding and combining these items can you hope to defeat me. Items you seek are:

Broccoli
Ham
The Favor Chicken

I will show myself again when you bring those items together.

Upon reading this the In game support staff was angered, but not surprised. They quickly formed a team, handpicking the best among them to take this quest and return Eff's character to him. However, as the best of the staff is currently on this quest the only ones left to do actual in game support are: "Gary the vague" and "Thomas the unhelpful". Naturally it was Thomas and Gary would responded to your initial inquiries. And as for the message: "Your character is still being saved", it is meant to be taken literally, as they are currently on an epic journey to save your character from the clutches of evil.

*tear* may they return swiftly before I die of a broken heart at the loss of Effant!

New update....My ticket was responded to with a reply of please re-try logging in, as if i hadn't done this a million times over the past week (though I'm sure this was to see if I was still there and needing help). Responded with no go & NOW my issue has been escalated to the Turbine engineers for review...So I've been without my character for 7 days now... whats my time frame? (seriously I know I'm not going to get one I'm sort of joking and ranting all in one) So I'm progressing SLOWLY up the ladder to get some assistance, starting with crapola in game support that was wrong to start with (thankfully the next gm was of use).

How many months before I get my character back? EVER? I think I've just lost millions of plats worth of gear that I don't want to farm for AGAIN :'(.

Again, I know that me posting here is pointless other than to RANT!

Actually I got a prompt response. 2 or 3 days. They said they had had several complaints and to try to log in again. Success. Score a big one for the technical assistance crew. I hope you are also able to log in.
