    Default Screenshots of your monk’s hotbar setup

    Word everyone,
    I’m in the midst of levelling up the reincarnated version of my monk and decided to clean up my hotbars and mapped keys setup. I have a lot of ideas on how I could clean it up but I was hoping you guys would be willing to show off your setups to give me more ideas to work with.
    Things worthy of Standing Stone going EXTREME PREJUDICE™ on.:
    • Epic and Legendary Mysterious ring upgrades, please.
    • Change the stack size of filigree in the shared bank to 50. The 5 stack makes the shared bank worthless for storing filigree in a human usable manner.
    • Fixing why I don't connect to the chat server for 5 minutes when I log into a game world.
    • Fixing the wonky Lightning Sphere and Tactical Det firing by converting them to use alchemist spell arcing.
    • Redoing the drop rates of tomes in generic and raid loot tables.

    Default umm.. err....

    I will check with my kids and see what I am doing wrong as I can't seem to find/take the pix. But what I use is my hotbars at the bottom of my screen strung three across with the XP/SP/Ki box as well as the "icon" window above them. I have my four main attacks (1 kama, three elemental attacks) as 1-4 when I use up the three hotbars. The left hotbar is potions with healing on the far right. The middle hotbar is attack options (stunning fist, handwraps, etc.) and the right hotbar is either armor swap or wandso rmiscellaneous stuff.

    I basically use WASD for movement and spacebar for jump, Q for finisher, ERFC for the elemental attacks, . 12345 for MISC key (1 is sneak, 2 is Fists of Light, 3 is Stunning Fist, 4 and 5 I cannot remember). Shift + spacebar is Monk jump feat. V for CE or DF (defensive fighting), X for haste pots, Z for target details.

    My toolbars are lined up at the bottom and the right side of the screen with the minimap and focus orb top left. Typically toolbars that have often used buttons are more central at the bottom of the screen.

    This is my set-up with minimal use of hotbars. Until I get the cash, I'm stuck with a 15-inch monitor, so I got it down to just the bare essential things I needed to see or use at a moment's notice.

    Bar 4: Monk stances and special abilities, Power Attack and a couple of extra weapons, set to the F1-F10 keys.
    Bar 3: Elemental strikes, Fists of Light, weapon sets - set to various gamepad buttons as well as the /, * and - numberpad keys.
    Bar 2: Various potions and clickies, set to the number keys 1-0.
    Bar 1: Immediate use items - cure potions, blindness removal, lesser restoration, monk finisher, robes, all set to the number pad. I use sneak quite a bit since I solo about 95% of the time, so that is set to a quick pinky tap on the 4 key.

    just did some testing you can setup the shortcut bar for either
    numer keys, alpha keys, or function keys
    also you can combine those with control, shift, alt

    Now f course you will have to be careful on haveing same key commad for multiple actions. and typing issues.

    Thanks for the ideas guys! I think part of my problem was that I was thinking “Horizontally” instead of “Vertically” on the keyboard.

    So here’s what I’m thinking so far:

    Map the high damage and special attacks/abilities to letters or the 1-5 slots on Hotbar 1. Group the elemental strikes in slots 2-5 of hotbars 2-5 so I can spam a specific element on vulnerable foes. The “Ctrl + #” combos should allow me to switch between elements rapidly.

    Keymaps:
    I’m kinda leery about remapping the Q and E keys only because of my uncanny ability to fatfinger those keys. Z and X also seem to be rather clunky placement for stuff too. I like to use the F1-F12 keys for player selection so I’ll need to leave them alone as well.

    R is going to become “Storm Strike”
    F is going to become “Stunning Fist” (I moved “Auto Targeting” to the \ key in Sept so I could turn it off.)
    C is going to become “Fists of Light”

    T is going to become “Mountain Strike”
    G is going to become “Sun Strike”
    V is going to become “Ocean Strike”

    Y is going to stay “Push to Talk”
    H is going to become “Potion 1”
    B is going to become “Potion 2”

    Hotbar Layout:

    Bar 1:
    1) Trip
    2) Sunder
    3) Finisher
    4) Quivering Palm
    5) Abundant Step
    6-10) Human Versatility Clickies

    Bar 2:
    1) Air Stance
    2) Storm Strike IV
    3) Storm Strike III
    4) Storm Strike II
    5) Storm Strike I
    6-10) Combat modifiers and skills. (PA, Stealth, etc.)

    Bar 3:
    1) Mountain Stance
    2) Mountain Strike IV
    3) Mountain Strike III
    4) Mountain Strike II
    5) Mountain Strike I
    6-10) Handwraps

    Bar 4:
    1) Sun Stance
    2) Sun Strike IV
    3) Sun Strike III
    4) Sun Strike II
    5) Sun Strike I
    6-10) Handwraps

    Bar 5:
    1) Ocean Stance
    2) Ocean Strike IV
    3) Ocean Strike III
    4) Ocean Strike II
    5) Ocean Strike I
    6-10) Kama combos

    Bar 1:
    1=Trip
    2=Stunning Fist
    3=Quivering Palm
    4=Lightning fist3
    5=Fire Fist3
    6=Stone fist3
    7=water fist3
    8=Positive Fist
    9=Finishing Move
    10=Divine Favor clickie

    I use - and + keys to move quickly between bars so that Bar 20 (1 down) is all weapon layouts as is Bar 19. On the + side Bar 2 is set up to mimic Bar 1 as far as stances go.
    Bar 2:
    1=Human Attack Boost
    2=" " Damage Boost
    3=" " Saves Boost
    4=Wind Stance 3
    5=Fire Stance3
    6=Mountain Stance3
    7=Water Stance3
    8=Wholeness of Body
    9=Meditate
    10=Abundant Step

    Bar 3 and 4 are for potions and clickies. But using the - and plus + and staying on bar one allows me to minimize clutter on the HUD and switch between weapons and stances when needed.

    This allows me to memorize basically where all my elemental attacks are and since the same numbers correspond to stances it has become second nature as I dont need to look down to see what I am doing. I am thinking of redoing my wepons payout to mimic teh elemnetal damage as well. ie Flaming burst on Bar 20 #5

    Bar switching: f for bar 1, g for bar 2, z for bar 3, x for bar 4
    Bar 1 is the general use offensive stuff, bar 2 is unbalancing strike, eagle claw strike, and buff finisher setups. Bar 3 is for stuff like tieflings with resistance to every **** thing, and has quivering palm on 5.
    Abundant step is R, Stunning fist is ctrl+R. Alt+space for healing potions, Ctrl+space for finishers, and shift+space for the never-used diplomacy. Buff potions and stance swapping are done by clicks.

    I only put the two most recent strikes on hotbars. If you have Storm Strike I, II, III, and IV, there's no point in using I and II, since they cost the same ki as III and IV but do less damage. The timer for the strikes is short enough that you only need two plus your pos/neg strike to continuously spam them.

    I mapped hotbar 2 to be "Alt + 1-9" and hotbar 3 is "Shift + 1-9".

    Then I map two of the hard to reach number to my mouse scroll wheel which clicks left and right. This gives me, with ALT and SHIFT modifiers, 6 hotkeys controlled by mouse wheel and 12 hotkeys within easy reach of my movement hand. I'm not a fan of remapping the R F C and other Alpha keys to new hotkeys... I stick with the numbers.

    I also don't use CTRL as a hotkey modifier as that's my push-to-talk key. Strangely enough I never seem to mi**** the "CTRL + s" which opens the store. I guess I don't walk backwards while talking

    Also, since I'm using a G15 keyboard, I have some chat macros and miscellaneous buttons mapped on the extra keys provided. Potions and featherfall item are always in the same place for my "Oh Snap!" buttons.

    I’ve found I can rap my fingers to get 4 attacks going. Though for something like Harry or Sally I’ll probably go 1, 2, 3, T rather than 1, 2, 3, 4. I have all 4 setup so I can do the spam thing on critters that are vulnerable to the damage. I think my normal technique is going to be the R, T, G, V keys (omitting the one that gives immune or green results)

    Edit: I braved the unknown and made T (Toggle Mouselook to curser) my E key. So far so good. Since I pretty much keep my middle finger on the W key I’m actually getting less fatfingers than I anticipated.

    OK, here's what I have and it seems to work out exceptionally well for my monk and doesn’t cause pain to my other characters:
