    Default the raging monk?

I thought of the idea (probably not the first) for a barb reincarnated as a monk for the barbarian rage. I started to level my barb then realized that it locked me out of doing certain things while raging.

would my poor little monk be locked out of most of his abilities?

I ran with a monk with madstone boots and did this raging thing that didn't allow him to heal himself until it was over.

Madstone Rage and I assume the Barbarian past life rage will not let you cast any of your buffing finishers (like dance of clouds), the healing finisher, the breath of the fire dragon finisher, rise of the phoenix, or any of the remove curse, disease, lesser resto, etc abilities. Basically anything that mimics a spell another class has you won't be able to use. You will still be able to use your different elemental attacks and things like unbalancing strike or eagle claw attack. Rage can definitely be useful to a monk, you'd just have to be careful when you decided to use it depending on what kind of finishers and abilities you may want to use for the fight.

Just to make sure. Can you use touch of death while madstoned?
Please copy and paste this to your status if you know someone, or have been affected by someone, who needs a punch in the face. People who need a punch in the face affect the lives of many. There is still no known cure for someone who deserves a punch in the face, ...except a punch in the face, but we can raise awareness.

You cannot use finishing moves, that shadow walk spell thing, or dragonmarks when Madstoned. Touch of Death, Ki Strikes, wholeness and fists of light will work when Madstoned.

I think quivering palm is fine never dragged it on my bar but my light monk friend uses it all the time and he is perma madstoned.

    yeah.
Basically take any monk build and put madstone boots on.
The only time I take them off is for VOD or TOD etc where I need to manage curses and buff others.
Seriously, by endgame, the monk finishers are pretty useless, so if being able to pop heals for 30hp is worth losing 4-8 Str/Con, ac, and melee haste (in other stances) i dont know what you're doing

    qft

my self heals go off for quite a bit more, but usually not worth losing madstone.

also, i'd like to add that earth earth earth seems to work, or at least I don't get the message saying something is preventing me from doing it like I get with other finishers, etc...

If your a light path monk, you wont be able to do any finishers, if your a dark path monk, your golden. And by the way the madstone rage melee speed does stack with everything, including the enhancement bonus. And the melee speed on top of that stacks with the first madstone rage. Raising your melee speed by 20% even in Wind IV, and if you double up on the madstones, raising your speed by %40. Its awesome using the madstone clicky before going into a long bossfight, then having the second go off!! Did it last night and was like, **** im fast!! =)

Finally some monks that appreciate the benefits of rage. I have four Madstone boots on my monk, and only shrine to recharge them. As mentioned up above, I only avoid them in situation with cursed wounds. I also stick around for rage from casters and don't run away like other builds afraid of the minuscule drop in AC. The melee speed, STR and CON boosts outweigh the the AC drop and inability to execute a finishing move.

Also madstone rage can actually increase AC in some instances without a ranger around, seeing that madstone gives a +4 Natural Armor bonus.
