Ring of spell storing

What is the big hooplah with this ring? All it does is give the wearer enough mana to cast any of his currently memorized level 4 and below spells? Now if you could cast any one level 4 or below spell into the ring then be able to memorize other spells that would be SWEET!!!!!!! You can just put something like feather fall, or any spell you find yourself needing in a pinch and dont want to use a spell slot 4. I have one and it is not that great at all. Yea the extra mana is always welcome, I guess...
