Default DDO Download Driving me Crazy

So I decided to suggest getting into DDO with a group of friends now that the game is free. Seemed like a great idea at the time. Now I come to download the game and am met with a slew of ridiculous and hugely irritating issues.

First off I simply used the DDOHigh download option. After finishing I went to install the game only to find it was corrupted somehow.

So I went to redownload it, yet everytime the download manager got to 99% it would complain that all the files already existed do I want to choose another folder or start again - which makes no sense. That was already 8 gigs of my quickly depleting 75gb a month cap blown out the window. So I waited until midnight where I can download unlimited amounts (12-8am) and tried again using the DDOhigh method. And again the exact same thing happened. As you can imagine I was getting pretty irritated by this point, it's as if the game didn't want me to play.

Now I chose the Turbine Download Manager only to encounter the bug (found it on the forums here) where after about 20 mins the TDM just goes to 0kb/s and stops totally. Resulting in me leaving my PC on overnight to turn off at a specific time only to get 400 megs of 4 gigs done. So i waited until the next midnight to set it off again, and disable P2P on TDM as apparently that causes the bug.

I fire up the game in the morning only to find a system.xml error. After doing some googling find that reinstalling TDM (already starting to hate this app with a passion) lets it rescan your files and download anything needed. So I did that and it starts doing 200megs.

Now after that completes TDM is deciding to do its tiered download and is downloading 'Beach', 'Village' and now 'Wilderness'. So wait..what..the game is redownloading absolutely everything again in tiered format? Whats going on!? My DDO folder is now 6.4 gigs, yet the requirements state 5 gigs making me think its downloading stuff again.

Sorry for the large amount of text, hopefully someone can spread some light on this situation and understands just how simply frustrating this experience has been

EDIT - After doing a few area downloads the game went to verify the 'full game download' which succeeded and the game is now up to date. However still, this download process could use some sorting out most definitely. Clearly the apps in use contain multiple bugs and issues.

have you tried getting the standard resolution version and then getting it to upgrade to hi-res?
