Default Saving throws and how to get some very good one's

    Hi All

I have been around a wile, both on the Euro server and NA servers and have lots of knowledge of the Game and how to build characters. But I am far from perfect, I am not a rule lawyer but I have a good understanding of the game.

What I am looking for is a consensus of good saving throws across the Level range; this is to help me and hopefully new players.

I am not looking to get all the buff’s added to the saves but the norm are ok, this is to get an indication of easily attainable saves without having to Twink out a toon nor grind that +5 resist trinket from Pop.

Spells and buffs are ok as are basic item

So to start it off , these are the unbuffed saves I plan to have on a New toon I am working on, Currently only lvl 7 and just short of 20 across the bored (need to login to Confirm) he is completely un tweeked and the best resist item he has at the moment is a +1 resistance item, I can post the build if anyone wants it but it’s a work in progress

    LvL 1
    Fort 10
    Reflex 10
    Will 10

    LvL 4
    Fort 15
    Reflex 15
    Will 15

    LvL 8
    Fort 20
    Reflex 20
    Will 20

    LvL 14
    Fort 25 - 30
    Reflex 25 - 30
    Will 25 - 30

    LvL 20
    Fort ?
    Reflex ?
    Will ?

Anyway Any help would be much appreciated.

So youre a monk? Monks have great saves. I am assuming you are a monk because your saves are exactly the same for all and I doubt that your Dex, Con, and Wis are able to produce the exact same number to your saves. So if you are talking base saves at lvl 20 a monk is 12 base for all saves.

Also this post is very unhelpful as there is a serious lack of information. Whats your class? Stats? etc.

So how exactly are you helping anyone? Nobody is going to look at your post and be able to figure out how you got your numbers.

Also I call Shenanigans. 10 across the board (the proper spelling) at lvl 1? A monk that has best base saves at the game has +2 per save at lvl 1. This means you at lvl 1 have what +8 to Con, Dex, Wis?

Even if you were a drow Palidan with a 20 Charisma I would have trouble believing this, because that would make your +7/+5/+5 that would mean you would need a 14 Con, 18 Dex and 18 Wis to go along with taht +1 Resistance item.

This is not shenanigans the numbers there are place holders until I get some more information and yes the character in question has some monk in him, I did say I would post the build if asked.

I am not asking for my numbers to be corroborated for the toon I said I can get close to 20 on at lvl 7. what I was asking for was an Idea of what are considered good saves at the respective levels, this was the Idea of the helping people.

I can make a Toon with very high saves way higher then 20 at lvl 8 but his usefulness to anyone would be about as much as a Sherbet lemon to some one who only likes chocolate.

I can also make a toon that has save so bad even a Kobold shaman on solo setting could kill him.

Again I will say, what I am looking for is an Idea of good saving throws that can be easily obtained without the grind. So if some one think “ I want to make a hafling barbarian” he can have an idea of what he needs to aim for save’s wise to not die from the first foray into Waterworks elite.

Please tell me how I can get +10 saves across the board on my WF sorc at level 1 - I'll reroll right now.

I have two characters with high saves. The first, my cleric, uses Paladin levels and some gear to have Fort and Will saves licking the underside of 40 and a Reflex save just under 25. That character is able to survive many magical attacks and is quite persistent in PvP against casters thanks to those saves as well.

The other also utilizes the Paladin levels in a Ranger 12 / Paladin 2 / Rogue 6 build. Thanks to the Charisma in there (which is about 20) and the higher focus on Dex for the character he can hit 52 reflex when raid buffed. Certainly makes taking a spell a lot easier with that kind of character.

The point here is that I made efforts to boost the heck out of the saves for these characters and even on my best min / max day I could not manage such a perfect aray of saves as in your display. There are a lot of things that you can do to boost your overall saves but I would loose the idea that they will all remain the same and look at saves that you think will be more prominent than others. Fort is good if your expect a lot of finger of death and destruction to be cast, will if you want to resist paralysis and domination from Illithid, and Reflex is kinda obvious. My advice in multiclassing is the same as my advice here, focus on a goal and the character will be much better than randomly throwing things together.

Without twinking cut all your numbers in half. +5 at lvl one is good, etc.

    12 Fighter/6 Paladin/2 Monk

    Saves are:

    F: 43
    R: 36
    W: 42

    Notes:
    - 32 Charisma (+11 to saves from Paladin)
    - Force of Personality Feat (uses Charisma bonus instead of Dex bonus for Reflex saves)
    - includes +1 from Resistance Alchemical ritual on Head of Good Fortune trinket

TLDR this entire thread's likely advice:

    1. Take 2 levels of paladin, have your charisma not lick balls.
    2. Be a monk.
    3. Gimp yourself by stacking save feats atop saves feats (also known as I rolled a sorc with 2 paladins and force of personality then also took Force of Will and Luck of Heroes...oh and Bull Headed).
