    Default No new epics?

No new epics in this update? Really?

We all know gianthold tor is done and has been done for months now, every item for it is in the compedium and whoever writes the known issues seems to think they are even in the live game already!

And VoN series and shroud are being worked on..

So can't we get gianthold tor epic in this update at least?

Um, item in the compendium means the CONCEPT work is done, plus some text editting that could have been done by interns. It doesn't mean the programming is done.

When the feedback threads for the epic desert quests were 'accidently' spoiled, there was also a thread for Epic Gianthold Tor, if that means anything.

Just means the same forum guy got all the web content ready at once.

Let me ask you this... if it was ready what would be the business reason not to release it?

To release it next month and get more praise by having 'quick and regular' updates to the game.

Because with the current business model, they are better off releasing small amounts at a time to get people to pay for more.

Hell, releasing Epic GH will probably never be their priority, because it is probably one of the better selling content packs, so making an epic version isn't really likely to sell all that many more because many people will already have it.

Making a new content pack with 5 short quests every month or two is likely to be a better money maker.

I would expect that we will see epic VONs before GH, simply because the VON series is probably not selling as well.

spacing out the content release. i can only assume what we've got recently and what we know/think is coming was done/completed during our very long dry spell. it would make sense to space out what they have, giving them a "buffer" as it were.

Plus, i think epic gianthold will be such a tremendous hit, anything else coming out before/after within close proximity, is going to be drowned out in the store.

thats just me thinking to myself tho.

Good point from all of you who said this... This could easily be a case where the guys in the tinfoil hats have it right and there is a year of development completed, chunked out, and ready to be released in pieces over the next few months.

It'll probably be a hit with level 20s, but won't make an iota of difference to those who aren't close to that level yet. Most of the new players are some way from 20 still.
    I don't have a zerging problem.

    I'm zerging. That's YOUR problem.

Poor arguement. The entire dungeon is done. It's a simple fact anyone paying attention to the forums and compedium can see.
It was going to be part of the original epic update and a "feedback: Gianthold tor epic" thread was even posted. I can't believe the devs have such bad communications that they'd let it get that far without it even being done.

It was done over a month ago, it may have had some critical bugs that prevented the release back then ,but there was tons of time to get whatever that was fixed.

The items are definetely done and in the current build, what shows up on the compedium is not "concept" ideas. It's data pulled from the actual live game data files. The data would otherwise not be there if it was not present in the live game files.

The known issues even warn us not to put our epic chained greataxes in the altar because it will break them.. Like they think we already have them.

Idle speculation from incredibly limited data. Maybe they finished the items ahead of the quests...certainly different developers working on these things.

Maybe they did finish and are releasing a little bit at a time, but they may also not be done. Certainly few people would consider an epic-only update to be a full or even significant update, even from Turbine's point of view, since its essentially adding more content for no additional return.
