Sound comes from speakers only, despite selection

Hi,

Wierd issue. A friend and I have together installed DDO on a total of 5 computers, running both W7 and XP. Sound is normal until one plugs in a USB headset/mic. Even if the output is selected as headphones in windows, the sound still comes out the computer speakers. The only way around this is to actually disable the onboard sound card in the device manger... then DDO uses the headphones.

All other programs use the headset or speakers based on sound settings, but DDO only uses onboard stuff unless it's forced to do something else. Is this a known bug, or are we just having really wierd luck?

You need to change the settings in the DDO options menu.


Go to Options->Audio and then select your USB sound device in the three drop down menus (the main sound effects and then 2 for the voice chat). Note you only can choose the voice chat options when in game - not from the Options menu you can bring up from the character selection screen.
