Default But I don't want to be a machine

The concept of Warforged is cool and all but I want to to be a Wizard and the general consensus is because of auto heal and immunities Warforged is far better then any other race at the wizardry arts. I hate them there ugly, big and they are cold blooded machines hate hate hate, I rather play an undead vampire at least I would of had life at some point. I want the best Wizard class to be a soft squishy long bearded wearing freak not some jacked up 1976 Pinto on steroids. Perhaps it is the dice throwing basement dwelling role player in me but this is just wrong that a washing machine is the best caster and I think the game is in need of a correction to make the best Wizard race Human or Elf or Even an undead race just not the Frankenstein.

ROFL OK you come to the Warforged forum to rant about not wanting to play a WF? LOL Sure we look like toasters, but its better to be a toaster than a squishy pile of goo after a Ogre smashes your delicate little elf body.

Warforged are exceptionally tough, it's true. And often a wizard or sorceror will choose WF (or vice versa) because they can use the Repair spell as a cleric would use a Cure spell.

There isn't any 'auto heal' however. In fact, without the Repair spell, WF have difficulties being healed by other sources. They have to spend AP/enhancements to get up to about 70% of the healing level of a non-WF race. This, plus low WIS and CHA, help balance the racial strengths.

They are no better or worse than any other race for playing a wizard, and some would say that Drow (with inherent INT bonus) or Human (with extra feat) are better.

Play a WF, or not, it's your character. But don't waste our time ranting about a race you don't want to play, when there are a number of equal, possibly better choices. Incidentally, WF aren't machines, or robots.

WF are not machines. They are in fact closer to golems. They are basically strips of wood, with some stone and metal plating, brought to life by magic. Although born through magic, they are sentient living beings, not cold machines.

But if you don't like em, don't play them...no loss.

    Then don't. Problem solved.

Dwarves get just as good Con bonuses - if you don't want to be overly squishy.
Drow get a higher base Cha - if you want to work up your UMD to be able to Cure Wand-whip.
Humans get that extra feat - always nice.
Elves get Elven Arcanum to boost your SPs.

Better yet, you could play a Halfling and take Dragonmarks to heal. And, Wiz is a good class for a Halfling to do this, since you get class feats to make up for the feats spent on the 'marks... and your Metamagics will help boost the healing for no extra cost. This would be your best bet for a self-healing Wizard, imho.

There really is no "best" race for Wizard - just variations on how you want to build/play yours. So, don't play a WF if you don't want to...

    Make a drow wizard.

    Don't be whiny.

Warforged aren't robots they are Living Constructs. They might even have a soul.

    That is all.

They don't. house Cannith made them. Now that the forges were destroyed (or were supposed to be) no more can be made. Of course this is not including the ancient quori forged ones from 40,000 years ago.

They don't. They were made by the Cannith creation forges, which are supposed to be shut down since the Last War. *cough* not really *cough* Technically, no warforged is supposed to be under a certain age or over a certain age (i forget what those are exactly though).

Not the most informative, but a good run down.

I just wish they had different body types, slender, bigger, etc. But oh well.

My personal theory is that WF Souls are the Souls that were not content with their time in the Eberron Study Hall that is the After Life and escaped. The WF made the perfect vessels for the souls to inhabit. Most of the souls that were strong enough to overcome their Study Hall were obviously higher level heroes and as such most WF gravitate towards that lifestyle anyway.

One of the nice things about D&D is that flavor text is highly malleable. You don't want your Warforged to be an artificial lifeform? That's cool; it doesn't have to be. Mine isn't.

My "main," Vombatus Ursinus, is a Warforged. But he's actually a wombat. An immensely powerful psychic wombat who happened to find the broken-down shell of a Warforged that was destroyed in the War. He repaired its basic motor skills and moved into his new mobile fortress.

    See? Easy.

warforged are actually the perfected design of House Cannith during the last 50 years of the Last War. The base technology came from an unknown source in Xen drix. The origins of this technology can be best described as based off of models that the Quori used against the giant empire thousands of years ago. Oddly enough the idea came from the dreaming minds of the brightest giant artificers only to have it be used against them. At first Cannith was only able to produce mindless war machines like and including the warforge titans. A breakthrough was made by the ruler of Cannith south's father. As Cannith was based in Cyre, many, if not all of the warforged designers were wiped out in the day of mourning.

I suppose the term machine doesnt apply here. They are living constructs... magically enhanced wood and metal that houses an elemental spirit with no prior memories. Also each warforged is born with a unique rune on its forehead, no one knows why.

Since the last war creating more warforged has become illegal, although Merrix d'Cannith in Sharn operates a forge as does the Lord of Blades in the Mournland.

Mostly, take the time to learn about something before you blindly hate it. Blind hate = ignorance

    /cheers

    Default warforged envy

I detect warforged envy in this post!

Your kind of right my issue is I don't want the construct to be the overall best rated class for the arcane arts.

So your freed magical robots with a backstory I hope someone programed an order 66 so you all go crazy at the same time and turn against stormreach and we have an epic war.
