    Default Omg Yaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thanks to all of you we got it done you all helped WOW this is what thy at ddo put out!

In addition to new content and items we are also working on some exciting new features for DDO. The team is currently busy working on some great additions to the guild system that will let guild members work together to earn valuable rewards and rival guilds compete for status on each server. One of the biggest rewards players will work towards is access to an all new guild housing system, which we are implementing in a cool and unique way. Suffice it to say, we think you will really want to be part of a guild that has earned access to this feature! I can’t say much more about it now, but look for more details in the coming weeks.

    Default Update!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This is what I found at http://ddocast.com/2010/03/26/ddopax...n-airship.aspx on Guild Housing Picks are also posted.

Woot! After visiting the Turbine booth I decided that it was worth rushing to the nearest wi-fi connection to get out some pretty darn big news - Guild Housing will be airships!

At Turbine's PAX East booth, they're showing off a desktop pic of what will be the new guild housing, and it's quite the announcement - we'll be housed on airships.

DDO Executive Producer Fernando Paiz was actually staffing the computer in which the airship image was allowed to be photographed for members of the press and visitors. He says guild housing is currently scheduled to come to DDO in the "Summer of 2010", aka - this summer. Umm, not sure if someone else from Turbine may have let something slip here, but someone from Turbine in the booth mentioned that airships would be coming with Update 5, so maybe that should be taken as a bit of rumor rather than confirmed fact at this point...

Turbine has a bunch of DDO computers in their booth, tied to the actual live servers. Reason for that is they have the ability to literally sign up visitors on the spot to play DDO! The one computer in which this is being shows is the computer being used to demo DDO's stuff to the press. It contains Update 4, currently on Lammania. Speaking of which, Turbine has announced that Update 4 will be released on April 9th to all DDO players and will be released to us VIP players on April 5th. It's an adventure pack and is called "Sentinels."

Fernando also mentioned that Update 4 will include as-yet-unspecified "Character Bank Upgrades" and the ability to announce certain accomplishments in DDO to your Facebook feed. He also mentioned that Turbine will soon announce details of a deal with a third-party vendor to allow players to earn Turbine Points through some kind of "offer-based payment options", which means you'll do something like take a short survey for some commercial entity and earn Turbine Points in return (Netflix does something very similar to this.)

Mr. Paiz also mentioned that we will see a CR 9 wilderness area coming in the summer of 2010 that fits, "...between Sorrowdusk Isle and Ataraxia's Haven." I'm not sure if he meant physically located or that level-wise it's in between, I'm leaning toward the latter but will try to get confirmation later.

Otherwise, the 2010 schedule DOES include the release of the Half-Orc as a playable race, although no specific time frame was given other than, "...later this year."

I'll have more soon - and join us at 9pm EASTERN for our live-streamed DDOcast from PAX East! Well, from a hotel with wi-fi near PAX East, if you want to get technical...

    Default Player Housing

I like the idea for guild housing but I really want to see housing for individual characters or at least one house per account.
How about a design tool so we can make our own houses or dungeons?

Houses are very important for players' experience. For now we can found a guild a use the airship as our temporary home. BTW, what's wrong with letting characters own airships?

Did you look at the last date posted? It was from around the time airships were first announced. Also the whole thread was started in 2009. Necromancy may be okay in game but try to avoid doing it on the forums. =P

Krohon seemed very aware of guild airships from his post. I think hes trying to resurrect the idea of "Personal" housing or airships.

While I like the idea of having my own personal "space" in a game I have seen it fail so many times in games. For me personal must also be customizable and most games fail on this part. EQ2 had a pretty robust system for player housing but it had a few issues (like trying to place shelves and using tables to create a floating floor).

However reading this post got me thinking. what if you allowed players to create custom housing outside of DDO using a toolset similar to NWN GM toolset. That way the player can customize his house which would be set on a fixed base blueprint (larger sizes purchasable) and simply pop in game find a housing (estate) agent and purchase the house. The housing agent draws its list from a new folder in the players DDO folder and the toolset saves personally created ones in the same folder. You could even have a contractor agent and furniture ("ikea") agent with a set list of components and house elements that must first be purchased before use in the toolset.
