How do you aim a jelly cake?

I got Sea of Fire Jelly Cake from Festivult Jester. It "blasts a target with fiery rays for 4d6 damage", but it does not equip to anything. I assume that to use it I must put it into shortcuts bar, but still, once I click it (or push appropriate number), who exactly is going to get blasted? Whoever is in my focus orb?

Scorching ray will fire at whatever your target reticule is on if you have nothing selected. If you select something first, and then use it, it will fire at that target.

Also, yes it should be in your hotbar when you click on it to use it.

either what you have targeted, or if you dont' have anything targeted, then its where the targeting circle is pointing..
