    Exclamation Remove single-person collectibles!

I've seen a few threads on the forums that have complained about people "ninja'ing" collectibles that are one-time for the party, rather than for each individual. This was a problem during the devil invasion live event. Apparently it can be a problem in BAM ( http://forums.ddo.com/showthread.php?t=216785 ). And it has the potential to be a major problem in epic content with scroll drops.

I've been lucky so far in that the groups I've run epic quests with have all rolled on any scrolls that dropped, but that won't always be the case.

These sorts of things just promote really bad behavior, like ignoring a fight to collect drops. And it penalizes people who are focusing on the task at hand (questing), or who have a non-standard key-map (no backspace or 'Use' on my gamepad).

Not sure what solution could be employed for rare drops like scrolls, but I'd really like to see this done away with, if not retroactively, then certainly going forward.

It's still a problem, while not as bad as it used to be, in the level 11 quest "The Spawn of Whisperdoom". The end rewards for the collectibles used to be really nice, but now it's just random loot. It's still really easy for anyone in a PuG to pick up the items not knowing what they are.

    Minor problem.

It's a perfect "filter". Very quickly you will know with whom not to group again.

No need for a change. Current situation can be annoying sometimes, but is also an exelant tool.

Except that you're not necessarily being penalized in this way due to grouping choices. The live event had this issue, and if future live events also drop items, then this will come up again, and has nothing to do with who you're grouping with. A fairly minor point, sure, but the whole system seems skewed to allow a particularly annoying sort of player.

Sure, you can squelch someone who does this or just avoid grouping with known offenders, but there will always be more, or alts you aren't aware of. I'd really hate to do a run through content where this comes up only to discover that someone ninja'ed what I'm after.

It also generates a weird effect on gameplay, as players are being pushed to pay ultra-special attention to corpse-drops in epic quests, which really shouldn't be the case when fighting epic monsters. I don't even notice when a scroll drops unless someone points it out, because I'm not running around with eyes to the ground.

Luckily, they make a noise when they drop so you don't have to watch whats going on, just listen.

It's totally true, I have a reliable source. You better reroll now.

    Hahaha!

All of my sound settings are set at 2% or off in order to hear the people I group with. If there is any other sound (combat, footsteps, etc...) I can't hear stuff like that.

And this isn't exactly an isolated issue, as others have the same sound issues.

LOL, I have my sound off too!

Friend mentioned it couple days ago to me in group - just wanted to pass along to be helpful...

    Yep, same here.

Turbine, you realized the negative effect fighting over loot can have on a player's fun when you started the game (hence individual treasure). You kinda screwed it up with raid loot, but you have since made changes to address that. What in god's name would make you think it was a good idea to go back to single-person collectibles? Have you really forgotten about the consternation Whisperdoom caused?

Still, even if I had my sound on, I'm going to be much slower to hit Backspace + U than someone using a keyboard, and even slower still than someone looking to ninja this stuff. But thanks for the "tip." I always miss shard drops in the Sub unless someone speaks up as well.

Irrespective of the selfishness of others, I continue to view this as a community-based game.
