Is this really acceptable?
I don't feel that it is.
If you want to know why...
Yes, it's acceptable. The game has a word filter. Darkies is not a filtered word. It's a dude playing a dark elf (which you can see from the class icon), looking for other dark elves to party with (which you can see from the lfm description). If his choice of words offends you, then that's your fault for deciding to be offended by it.
Do you really need to look so hard to find something to be offended by?
PS.
I'm offended by your name. Threat is a violent & negative word. Why do you want to threat people? That's just mean. In the name of political correctism, I request you change your name to minor_hugs. Thank you.

Then what do you think it means?
If its "darkies only" then its not a non black racists because well...that wouldn't make any sense.
If it is a black person who want to run with other black people, then under most anti-discrimination laws in most countries he can make that choice legally (all white is generally illegal, all male is generally illegal, all black or all female is generally legal)
So why don't you think its acceptable?
You changed the picture.
Not cool.

Honestly, if it offended you, report it. Or at least tell the person who said it you find it offensive. We, the community (with Turbine's intitial guidance) will help dictate what is offensive and what is not. Society cannot make everyone happy. Also, in this setting, racial overtones are expressed, though not by the degree that some game do it, such as WoW. (I am talking aobut racial only classes and you HAVE to be one side or the other due to race).
How many of us have called WF, toasters? Hmmmm? Because we have no artifical lifeforms in Real Life, that is somehow less offensive than dark coloured elves being refered by the tone of their skin, cuz there are people in Real Life that have darker tone of skin than others? Perception.
Though I haven't seen what was in the OP's picture, for he has changed it, I cannot understand how the term is used. But to refuse to allow a person into a party because they are playing a Drow, is just plain dumb. (RPing is fine, but RPers don't usually use the LFMs). We all can understand why it is. If it is a thematic party, like "Ladies Night" or "Warforged only" or "Rogues only" generally not considered rude or racsist or sexist. THey tend to be for one quest and usually to discuss the race/class/gender and have fun with others that are/are playing race/class/gender. If this was the case the OP was bringing up, using slang may not be the best idea.

other races can have dark skin too, Runix my intimitank is obviously a duergar for instance. Better words could have been chosen for an lfm. drow is a short word that need'nt refered to as anything but... drow or dark elf if you aren't into the whole brevity thing.
