Default Windows 7 in game brightness/contrast/gamma lost after alt-tab

I noticed this problem in windows 7 only: I usually set the brightness/contrast/gamma in game to about 1.1 since 1.0 is too dark for me. This works if I don't alt tab out of the game. After I alt tab out and get back in the game, the brightness/contrast/gamma are back to the level of default 1.0. The settings are still at 1.1, but they cannot be changed. The only way to get the settings back to 1.1 is to redraw the graphics, such as put it in windowed mode and put it back full screen, or set something like AA to 2x, then back to where it was before.

Anyone else notice this problem after alt tab?

You are not alone (or even)

However this is not a Windows 7 issue alone, it was broken in Vista too. Might be a DirectX 10 issue. Try switching back to DirectX 9. This is not a solution obviously but can help narrow the possible causes down.

Another issue I have is that the game is too dark at default brightness, contrast and gamma values (also both on Vista and 7).

I have also gotten this issue.

i have tried many tings to fix the problem and the only way i can improve it is too set the brightness up in the nvidia drivers settings and allow the nvidia drivers to control it

i have to guess the brightness in full screen and after alt tab

can we get some more info on this

about to play with in game settings.
ok so turning off directx 10 option fixed the issue.
i can now alt tab from game to windows and back again to game without any color changes

I think it is a driver issue, myself.

I'm still on XP as is my wife. She has an nVidia, I have an ATI.

If DDO crashes on her, the brightness settings and everything is all screwed up and she has to reboot. I do not have those issues with ATI.

We run windowed and on XP.
