I definitely think it would make the forums more interesting but it would also cause petty forum wars as well. I think the majority of the neg rep ive given out have been to people who knew they were going to get it. Their posting start out in all caps are nonsensical rants and tend to argue down people who show them proof they are wrong on something just because they cannot accept it. I think in all the neg rep ive given so far each of the threads have long since been shut down since it came down to the very bases name calling insults as well.

Id gladly leave a comment to some of the people as well, specially ones who demean belittle and insult those trying to help others. But there really is no need for me to if a person cannot tell by the - rep that what they are posting isnt constructive and is flame bait nothing I comment on will help or change that. But it would make for some popcorn popping times for sure.

I will even admit to neg repping the same person more then once. I felt the person deserved it and he does go out of his way to say stupid things in threads. He has insulted me on various occasions to so I feel free whenever he posts something irelevant or trolish to hit it only if its worth it to do so I do like to pos rep more and neg repping takes from that. But thats only one person and I never hit him for anything constructive only blatantly flame baiting posts. If I could leave a comment for him without it causing me infraction points youd better believe I would. Would it cause drama? probably because I feel he thrives off such things. Either way leaving comments wouldnt change it for as many people as you think not many of us go around just hitting the minus because we can not worth it in the long run as to me it takes away from being able to give out positive rep when its due.

Well, Borr at some point talked about a girlfriend or something like that, so either Borr is male or that is very, very HOT.

I have way too many friends in the lifestyle to assume anything based on a having a "gf" or "bf"

LOL nah and im quite shocked by how many males think ive went after them. I can take an insult in fact in the guild I run with if you cant then you pretty much going to get your feelings hurt lol. I do not like being targeted for no reason but I can take being pointed out when I do something dumb that way I dont do it again .

Seriously though the guy who im referring to probably is one who wouldnt even think id hit him with neg rep his ego is bigger then anything and he really tends to only post what I feel are comments to get a rise out of people. He also keeps his rep disabled to. which is about all I can say without getting into trouble I seem to be under radar of the mods lately lol

While I don't claim to know the exact numbers, they do favor assumption by a wide margin.

Having nothing to hide, I don't mind if the anonymity were stripped away when giving positive or negative rep. That being said, I understand the basis for anonymity and it has its benefits as well.

I have given out negative rep only a handful of times. I usually just move away from a thread rather than get drawn into flame wars. I have a feeling though, that some forumites would be quite a bit less popular when it was seen how much negative rep they give out. Speaking of which ...

Red is the new green. Everybody and there mom has green rep -- it's the trendsetters and cool kids that sport red (and to a lesser extent, grey).

In my experience, 90% of the people with high rep are total ******s anyway, spending all their time giving out regurgitated advice or digital confectionaries & *hugs* on the forum...while being ****poor players the rare occassions they actually log in.

Wear your red with PRIDE, my friends!

Edit: Your reputation on this post is Extremely Negative (took less than a minute, ahahaha!)

I'm immune. I hide behind a poseur gray.

I positive rep'd both of you though -- which pushes you both closer to the big green digital "L" on your foreheads you so richly deserve.

Yeah thats Delt there are many times hes scathing and Ive laughed quite a few times from him. Most of the time I think of a grumpy man looking for a cup cake or a hug and I would so call him cuddle bunny just to irk him cause I think it would lol.

And I dont mind having a long green bar or giving out long green bars just means someone out there thinks my insane posts are worth something. So take that those who dont count

I've never played with this so-called Cupcake. I'm guessing by the name, he/she gives out "digital confectionaries" too? Interesting to know, but not directed at them personally. It was more of a blanket statement/

See, I wouldn't call out anyone directly in my posts. That kinda nonsense would earn infraction points, not neg rep...

    btw - Hi Borror0!

Make it so that you have to leave a reason for giving negative reputation(over 15 characters worth).

The better question? Why do you care:

I watched the rep system for about a month before I deigned to op out of it. Things I noticed were:

    1) A poster with something like 9 posts total, skyrocket to over 1000 rep points, with one extremely sappy "ode to ____" type post.

    2) A poster skyrocket to Borr's level with absolutely no insightful comments on any post, but merely by spamming nonsense in every thread that came up. (not even humorous nonsense, please note, although from personally experience my "humor posts" bring in far more rep than my analytical posts ever have).

The idea of the system is decent. If I was a new player, and I see some fool poster with minimal rep trying to post that empower is a worthless metamagic and backing it up with biased math, and then another poster - with piles of rep - saying he was wrong; it would be nice to have that available tool to say "ok, gonna go with established guy on this one." The actual implementation, however, pretty much destroys any actual value in what the number of rep points means. Long story short - amount of rep usually equates pretty much only to 1) ability to post a lot and 2) ability to post comedy.

That being said, the ability to leave a comment with the neg rep is a good idea that I can see considerable value in.
