I am a new player, and have only been playing for a little over a week. Currently I have a paladin with really great DPS, but he's a paper bag. I cannot solo anything with him due to his low ac's and health. I also have a cleric, but he doesn't do the damage I'm looking for. If I am looking for an ideal solo character (with no higher than a moderate difficulty level) what type of build should I go for? Should I try a battle cleric, or splash my Paladin with a monk for the AC's? Any and all suggestions are welcome. (I am also open to completely rerolling, so don't feel confined to my two characters at the moment.)

How exactly is your paladin built? A pure paladin is one of the most durable classes to play for a newer player. Give some details on your paladin and maybe we'll where he can be improved.

I really like the feel of this build, reading I found that going pure paladin with 28 points is hard, so I was wondering if splashing in some fighter helps? This is the kind of character I'm looking for though, a guy who can hold his own soloing, but can fill in as an off-tank or some average-good DPS in a team as I am looking at joining a guild soon.

A class that can heal himself is very nice for a new player solo class.
Therefore I would recommend a Battle Cleric, FVS or WF Sorc.

I've heard the people don't want battle clerics in their teams at higher levels though, and I'd like to be a viable group member. At least one that people wouldn't say "no i don't want him." So should I still roll battle cleric? or try one of the other two options?
PS this is a build that someone in game made for me yesterday, he said it's a good soloer, but can also help out in a team by doing decent DPS and acting as an off tank.
